How to Get Hired
We asked Zillow Group for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.
What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
Everything we do and everything we are at Zillow Group is driven by our core values. Prospective employees embody characteristics that enable them to live our core values to the fullest extent. To do so, they must be accountable, transparent, innovative, exceptional, smart and driven.
We look for candidates who do the right thing, have a bias for action, act with respect and resourcefulness, and who are passionate about helping people make smarter decisions about their homes.
We work in small teams and have an open workspace, so prospective employees must have excellent communication skills and be able to thrive in a collaborative environment where their voice is just as important as the person sitting next to them.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Getting noticed requires thinking outside the box and an attention to detail. Candidates should provide clear, concise, chronological resumes highlighting their accomplishments and skills. We encourage prospective employees to connect with us at career events held throughout the country, at open houses and events we host, or on social media.
When we connect, we want to know they’ve done their homework. They should be prepared appropriately by knowing as much about our culture, their prospective teams and our various businesses as possible. Prospective employees should also work their connections, since internal referrals are one of our largest drivers of qualified candidates.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
Software developers, software testers, sales professionals, customer support, and marketers are a top priority for hiring in the next couple of years. We look for data-driven people who take ownership, are honest and constructive, overcome obstacles, work hard and have fun.
What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
Zillow Group and our employees are on every major social media network and job channel available. We encourage candidates to visit Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to see what we have to say. Our leadership team is actively engaged on social media, and their comments are a great lens into our culture.
Additionally, candidates should explore our “Career” and individual “About” pages to learn our story: Zillow, Trulia, HotPads, StreetEasy, Naked Apartments, RealEstate.com, Bridge Interactive, Dotloop, Mortech and Retsly.
