Perks and Programs

We asked WEX, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Focus on Wellness: The health and well-being of WEX employees is important. That’s why our leaders encourage mid-day exercise sessions, as well as walking meetings as team building exercises. The company recently launched a new cycling program that provides employees with bikes to use to ride between two of our South Portland offices. We also offer a company-wide wellness program designed to help our employees lead healthy lives, as well as build camaraderie through daily health challenges and contests.
  • Sabbatical Expedition: WEX offers a fully-paid one month (20 consecutive working days) sabbatical to focus on a development journey. This is an opportunity for longer tenured employees to recharge and refresh, explore new surroundings, learn something new, or immerse themselves in an activity or passion, and then return to WEX with new energy, new perspectives and new ideas.
  • Volunteer Time Off: One of WEX's core values is "Community"; it's why our philanthropy efforts are so important. Employees have the chance to give back in a way that is meaningful to them without using their vacation time. WEX's Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program offers employees 16 hours of paid time off every year, specifically to give back to the community.
  • Family Focus: Family means something different at WEX: it can’t always be defined in traditional means, and it is always important. WEX offers fully paid parental leave, adoption assistance, pet insurance and other benefits in support of whatever your family looks like.
  • Leadership Summit: Connecting with our global colleagues to build a WEX community is a crucial element to WEX’s success. Each year our top leaders from around the world gather for an in-person leadership summit. Along with spending time connecting, leaders receive an opportunity to work through actual business challenges to find solutions to these challenges together as a team.
  • Internal Development: WEX offers internal proprietary programs in Leadership Development; the curriculum begins at the supervisory level, and progresses through development of executive level skills. We get to practice future-facing team leadership, and leave the programs as more holistic, well-grounded leaders.
  • Levels of Recognition: Employees are at the heart of everything we do at WEX and our recognition program is designed for all employee levels. From peer-to-peer kudos awards, to quarterly Winner’s Circle awards celebrated with teams, to the President’s Club award, the highest level of employee recognition given at WEX, which includes a week-long trip overseas with executive leadership and 40 of our colleagues, recognition is more than just an investment, it’s part of our culture.
  • Wealth Building: WEX helps our employees create financial security through a variety of wealth-building strategies. These include annual stock grants, an attractive 401(k) match, regular financial education sessions, assistance with life events, such as education and family, and competitive salaries.
  • Perks to Make Life Easier: On-site Chair Massages, Discount / Free Tickets to Local Events & Merchants, Personal Travel Service, Wellness Programs Treadmill Desks, Onsite Fitness Center, Onsite Fitness Classes, Dry Cleaning, Monthly Teas, Wine & Beer Tasting, Market Fresh Kiosk (offering healthy snacks & drinks instead of vending machines), Self-serve convenience store, On-campus bikes to ride between buildings, Designated walk/bike paths, Collaboration areas (including private huddle space and Fireplace seating area), Outdoor patio, Game Room, Monthly Social Club
