  • Honor Flight Guardian Benefit: West Bend believes in the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight mission and wants to help associates honor veterans within their immediate families. The $500 guardian fee is paid for by West Bend for an associate or an associate's spouse to accompany a parent or parent-in-law on an Honor Flight.
  • Community Events: West Bend will pay up to $25 of the registration fees for associates that participate in community walk/run events.
  • 24/7/365 Fitness Center: Associates, spouses and dependents over the age of 16 can take their workouts to our state of the art Fitness Center. Fitness classes and personal trainers are available to help get their workout routine started.
  • Health & Wellness Center: The onsite Health & Wellness Center is open to all West Bend associates, as well as covered retirees and their family members up to the age of 65. Spouses and dependents (ages 2 and up) covered by West Bend's health insurance are also eligible. The clinic offers a wide range of primary and acute care services including the managing of chronic health conditions. The clinic is staffed with a physician's assistant and two medical assistants.
  • Traders Convenience Store: With a barista on staff, order lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolates, smoothies, and other great drinks right at West Bend! Traders also sells sandwiches, salads, other “take out” food, chips, ice cream, candy, gift cards, and essential items like aspirin. Open daily for the convenience of our associates.
  • Key Recognition Program: Our associate recognition program celebrates individuals and teams who do what’s right and deliver results by offering timely, frequent, and personalized recognition. Associates nominate other associates recognizing them for key actions taken, key behaviors demonstrated, or for key accomplishments. Selected monthly winners choose a special reward; including an extra day of PTO, lunch with an officer, a personalized parking space for a month, or a contribution to a favorite charity. Every six months, winning associates participate in a special event to win even more prizes!  
  • Beverage Island/Popcorn: West Bend offers free drinks and popcorn to associates all day long. Drinks include: coffee, tea, diffused water, milk and soda.
  • Computer Purchase Program: Associates can purchase their choice of computer or tablet, bring their receipt to HR, and apply for an interest free loan from West Bend. We reimburse our associates for their purchase, then apply a smaller bi-weekly payroll deduction to pay off the loan, interest free!
  • Anniversary Program: Our anniversary program recognizes and rewards associates for loyal service. Associates are recognized for every 5 years of service they complete with the company by meeting with the CEO/President and then picking a gift from select catalogs. The catalog they choose from is determined based on length of service. When associates have 25 years of service, they become a member of the 25-Year Club, which meets annually for a formal dinner hosted at West Bend. We currently have 228 associates with 25 or more years of service.
  • Culture/Sports/Entertainment: West Bend offers associates complimentary passes to the Betty Brinn Children's Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee County Zoo and the Milwaukee Public Museum. Complimentary tickets when available to Brewer and Packer games, Milwaukee Bucks, Schauer Arts Center, UW Whitewater basketball and football games.

In addition to recruiting and retaining individuals who are experienced and knowledgeable in their chosen field, it is important for us to find individuals who fit the West Bend culture.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We have openings in many areas of our organization throughout the year. These include Claims, Underwriting, Loss Prevention, Information Technology, Customer Service, Internal Services and more.   The level of experience needed in these roles ranges from entry-level to leadership.  In addition to experience, we continue to look for individuals who live by our core values: Excellence, Responsibility and Integrity. We also have a focus on college recruiting each year.  In 2016, we hired over 20 interns for our summer internship program.  We plan to begin recruiting for our 2017 summer internships by October 2016.  We will be looking for IT, Claims, Underwriting, and Accounting Interns.
