Perks and Programs

We asked Visionist, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Work Life Balance: Visionist reimburses employees for any gym memberships, wellness program memberships, health classes, or fitness activities up to $300 every six months.
  • Take-out for New Parents: When an employee has a new baby or adoption, Visionist offers to reimburse up to $500 for take-out meals purchased within the first three months.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Visionist supports higher education by reimbursing up to $10,000 per year in tuition and related expenses, such as required books and supplies.
  • Conferences and Training: Visionist covers 100% of costs (Including an employee’s time. Therefore, they do not need to use Paid Time Off (PTO)) for work-related conferences and trainings. Visionist covers all travel expenses such as, hotels and transportation. It’s one of the employees’ favorite benefits. We have had employees participate in both national and international conferences/training.
  • Charitable Activities: Visionist brings their employees together for meaningful charity events. The events we support typically have a special meaning to an employee or bring members of our work community together. Not only do they have fun during the charity, but they enjoy raising funds together for the event.
  • Home Brewers Gatherings: Visionist employs a large number of individuals who brew beer as a hobby. With this common interest in mind, employees have organized regular meetups after work at corporate, where everyone is encouraged to bring samples of their latest creations or favorite new beers to share with their co-workers and friends.
  • Board Game Nights: Visionist has found that many employees have a love for board games. Several employees have organized a weekly game night for Dungeons and Dragons, as well as previously hosting larger monthly board game events with more varied board games. Visionist supports these interests by providing space at corporate.
  • Tech Talks: Visionist encourages and supports employees to explore technologies and share them with the team. To broaden the reach of this idea, Visionist hosts regular tech talks conducted by employees, open to the company and associates of the employee. The Tech Talks cover various topics ranging from a passion for a new technology to sharing an experience regarding a recent conference.
  • Internal Research and Development: Visionist hires employees that have an entrepreneurial spirit. Team members often propose new ideas, solutions or develop a prototype that have resulted in an internal research and development (IRAD) effort. Not only does this aid in the company’s vision and growth, it provides the engineer an opportunity to expand their own leadership, knowledge and experience. Several IRADs have been well received by our customers and resulted in new contractual opportunities.

How to Get Hired

We asked Visionist, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

First and foremost, Visionist looks for employees that are passionate about the work they do. We want employees that will consistently strive to expand their knowledge. Interviewees that can speak enthusiastically about projects, hobbies, or interests always appeal to us, even if that topic isn’t directly related to the work they’d be performing for us. We pride ourselves on having engineers that will jump at any opportunity to solve our customers’ toughest problems. Potential employees must possess an innovative spirit and be comfortable embracing challenges. It is important to us that an employee fits the Visionist company culture. Honest communication and enthusiasm are cornerstones to our success; we want employees that will feel comfortable collaborating with team members, will take pride in their team’s accomplishments, and will feel comfortable speaking up when they have issues that need to be addressed.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Be enthusiastic! We want you to be as excited about the potential of joining our team as we are to have you there. Care about the quality of your work! What sets us apart from our competitors is the level to which we pursue the best solutions, not just the fastest or most adequate. Be willing to challenge yourself as much as our work will challenge you! If you are not eager to tackle difficult problems, Visionist probably isn’t a great fit for you. If you appreciate opportunities that are highly visible to clients and have a high impact on realworld problems, you will feel right at home with us

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

In the next year, our hiring priorities will stay the same: we want to find top tier engineers that have passion and enthusiasm for their work, and want to join a team of peers that work equally hard. We want to continue to grow our company at a methodical pace, to find new opportunities that are exciting and interesting to our team, and most importantly, never lose sight of the phenomenal company culture that we have established. We want leaders, good communicators, and pragmatists.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

If you know a Visionist employee, talk to them. Ask them about their work, the company culture at Visionist, and what brought them to us. For those who haven’t heard of us or met us before, visit our website, Facebook, Glassdoor or LinkedIn page. You’ll be able to read about our technical expertise and benefits, but even more importantly, you’ll see what Visionist employees do on a daily basis that has helped solidify our reputation as a great place to work. We’re immensely proud of every hackathon, publication, social event, and team building exercise you’ll read about, and you can rest assured that we’re only getting started.
