We asked Vincit to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Competence Development: Vincit offers $20/hour, up to 10 hours per month, to employees spending time outside of work enhancing their skills relevant to their position. For example, a majority of our staff are Software Developers so if they work five hours on a Saturday learning a new tech language, or contributing to a project with that language they are learning, we will pay them.
  • LaaS (Leadership as a Service: This is combination program and tool that lets employees make requests for support with personal and professional goals. For example we offer professional services like leadership training and mentor assistance; and personal services like massages to help with stress or guidance with running your first marathon, etc. The platform is ever-evolving and employees can make suggestions for other services that they are interested in, and could also benefit the team.
  • Gnome Bonus: This is our employee referral program. If an employee refers a candidate that we hire, they are rewarded with $1,000.
  • Team Events: Each month we do a company-sponsored team event that varies. In the past this has included going to comedy shows, NBA or NHL games, disc golf, etc. It's a great way to get to know everybody better!
  • Bi-weekly Breakfast: Every two weeks the company provides breakfast for staff on Monday and it's a time where everyone can eat together, catch up and share about the weekend.
  • TBS: TBS, or Team Building Seminar, is our annual group trip. Every year it is hosted in a new location. This year will be three days in Las Vegas to visit the Zappos office since we appreciate the culture and customer service focus that company provides.
  • 401K Match: Vincit offers a 401K program with 100% match up to 4% of employee contribution. We care about our employees and encourage that they participate in this program and perk to reach personal financial goals in the long-term.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

At Vincit we look for employees that are self-learners, motivated, adaptable to change, effective communicators to technical and non-technical team members, team players, occasional abaility to let loose, show humor and ability to recognize and learn from mistakes.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Employees that capture our attention have a degree, interesting project/company work, have worked on side projects, have a portfolio online or where we can access their code. Big pluses are if the person has also competed in endurance competitions like marathons and triathalons, but not required.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Our primary focus for staff in hiring software developers experienced in multipe technology languages.
