Perks and Programs

We asked Villa Healthcare to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Culture Committee: Each center has a group of front line associates that come together voluntarily to celebrate successes, host appreciation events, and do fun things for the center. The culture committee is supported by the Interdisciplinary team, and has a budget of $200 per month to spend on events, or save for a larger celebration over the course of several months. For example, culture committees celebrate earth day by purchasing and planting flowers with staff and guests, host pizza parties, celebrate survey successes and host appreciation events for every department annually.
  • Team Member of the Month: Every center, including the support center, has a formal Team Member of the Month program. Team members are nominated by center co-workers, staff and guests/residents. One team member is selected each month that exemplifies what it means to offer better service excellence around the building, and is recognized in their center and throughout the organization, and rewarded. Every team member of the month is celebrated with the following: A gift card, lunch with the administrator (or senior team member in the support center), a physical award and a call from the Vice President of Operations. Each center can add additional reward or recognition as decided by the team. All winners get announced throughout the organization quarterly.
  • Employee Appreciation Events: Mid year each region hosts an employee appreciation event for employees, and some include families as well. Events are often times picnics, bowling parties, or luncheons. Generally these take place in the early to later afternoon so that we can include all team members on all shifts. Parties are filled with food and raffle prizes sponsored by the organization. Whenever possible, Senior Leaders from the support center make it out to these events to show their support and appreciation.
  • Year end celebrations/Bonus: As an organization, we celebrate our employees and their dedication at the end of the year. Every center is funded to host an event in their employees honor. Additionally, leaders are awarded an extra small gift from the company owners. Regions can opt to forgo the funding for their party and split it among their employees as well. While we don't allude to any specific holiday, we celebrate our people.
  • Team member discounts: We do our best to gather and share vendor discounts will all of our associates as an added benefit. Currently in our program we partner with PerkSpot and Global fit to offer restaurant, retail and gym membership discounts. We also share our vendor agreed discounts with our employees for Verizon and 1800-Flowers.
  • Employee Assistance Program -Lifeworks: LifeWorks is a complimentary employee assistance and wellness program for our employees and families, to help them manage personal and work issues. LifeWorks consultants are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to talk about practical solutions on issues that matter to our employees – in their life, health, family, and work. A few areas they will assist in are:Crisis, Disabilities, Home & Moving, Midlife and Retirement, Personal Issues, Pets, Recreation, Relationship, adoption, health, death & loss, and dozens of other life events.

How to Get Hired

We asked Villa Healthcare for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

A prospective employee that would be a great fit for our organization would be first and foremost compassionate.  We look for people that genuinely care for others and take pride in their relationships and interactions.  Our team members have so many great characteristics that we would like to replicate, but a few we can mention are: committment, emotional intelligence, humor, a willingness to work as a team and confidence.  We look for people who want to grow and be better each day.  And we look for people that will make us better.  

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

To get our attention, we want people to be open, be honest, and most importantly, be themselves.  We are interested in people who ask questions, and have fun in the process. As a recruitment team, we believe that a resume tells a small part of a candidates story. While having an impressive resume is nice, it doesn't tell us about your whole picture, only a small snapshot. Becoming a part of the Villa family is so much more than the professional side of you, its about the caregiving spark that you have and most importantly, how you will be able to utilize that to Make People Better every day - no matter which role you hold within the company. 

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are always looking for qualified candidates that will better our organization and enhance the lives of those that we care about.  Much of our time and attention will be focused on our nursing staff, as that is the largest group of team members in our organization.  In addition to nursing, we have begun focusing our attention on strengthening our bench staff in support roles such as Task Force Administrators, Task Force Nursing Directors, operations and finance positions, as well as a big push in the coming months for employee support positions to fill our Employee Centered Care positions.
