What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
We look for candidates who embrace our culture. USAA strives to be the provider of choice for the military community, and we ask our employees to demonstrate a sense of pride and purpose in our mission. It is important that we continually build on that sentiment of service as we grow.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Job seekers need to build their professional networks and establish a personal brand. They should join professional associations and groups, meet with peers or leaders they admire professionally and learn about USAA from our employees. More than 30 percent of those we hire are referred to us by current employees.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
We will focus our hiring in customer service and sales, risk management, financial advisors, insurance sales and adjustors and information technology. We also have a robust internship program with more than 270 students hired into 15 business areas in 2014. We look for diverse candidates who embrace our mission and core values.
