We asked USAA to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employee Education: The USAA Employee Education Program provides payment to full-time and part-time employees of up to $10,000 per year for approved educational expenses for college degrees or professional designations. The program allows employees the opportunity to obtain new knowledge and skills to maintain their current positions and be better prepared for career opportunities within the company.
  • Annual and Holiday Bonus: Employees may be provided with an annual bonus, which is tied to the achievement of company-wide performance metrics that are set annually by the Board of Directors. Employees may also be provided with a holiday bonus, which is an additional cash amount equivalent to two weeks salary.
  • Retirement Savings Plan: To help employees prepare for retirement and meet their retirement goals, USAA offers a 401(k) plan which provides a dollar-for-dollar match on up to the first 8 percent of eligible pay every pay period.
  • Retirement Plus: Through Retirement Plus (RP), USAA makes discretionary annual contributions to an employee's Retirement Savings account. These age-based contributions vary from 3% to 9% and are based on company performance and an employee's age. The RP contribution is an annual percentage of an employee's total pay (including pay such as base pay, performance bonus, shift differential, and overtime) and is typically made in February. Employees receive this contribution regardless of whether they contribute the Retirement Savings Plan.
  • Eat Right: As part of the USAA “Take Care of Your Health” program, USAA offers a 50% discount on over 250 healthy food items in USAA café’s and minimarts. The program is available to USAA employees at all USAA locations with those facilities.
  • Healthy Points: A wellness program designed to inspire employees to Take Care of their Physical, Financial and Emotional health. Employees participate in an array of wellness challenges and actives to improve their overall wellness and earn points to receive up to an additional 5% company subsidy towards their total medical premiums.
  • Health Risk Assessments: USAA provides employees a free annual health screening in the first quarter of every year. The assessment provides a confidential, personalized profile of an employee’s physical and financial health risks. It also includes specific recommendations for improving and sustaining their health. Completing the HRA adds 500 healthy points to the employee's balance.
  • On-Site Health Cinic & Pharmacy: Health Services at USAA serves the USAA employee population by offering a spectrum of services in the efforts towards helping employees get, stay and be well. Each clinic is staffed with a licensed, registered nurse and support staff – the San Antonio location is staffed with two board certified family physicians. High quality yet affordable services are reflected by a $48 flat fee for all services, excluding lab and preventive services which are free of charge. USAA is committed to the good health of its employees, and Health Services at USAA is a continuation of these efforts. USAA houses an on-site pharmacy, providing a convenient alternative for employees and their dependents to fill prescriptions.
  • On-Site Massage and Physical Therapy: USAA makes available licensed physical therapists to provide on-site physical therapy to help employees address musculoskeletal aches and physical rehabilitation.
  • Fitness Centers: USAA offers free on-site fitness centers that offer exercise programs, fitness evaluations, personal training, group classes, and recreation sports. USAA offers a $300 rebate for off-campus employees who join an external fitness center.

USAA is a dynamic organization with ever-changing needs. USAA routinely hires Claims Adjusters, Mortgage Processors, Mortgage Loan Officers,
Customer Service Representatives, and other professionals who support our core businesses. Many of the growth areas over the next three year horizon is hiring expertise in the technology space.  This includes Information Technology, Digital, Design, and Data and Analytics.
