What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
TubeMogul interviews for five key qualities outside of them having a good understanding of the job duties for the position.
1. Do-to- Say Ratio: They take ownership of their work and hold themselves fully accountability for their actions and decisions.
2. Make It Happen: Is proactive, enthusiastic and a self-starter; seizes opportunities and acts upon them.
3. Do A Lot With A Little: Being comfortable with scarcity; scarcity forces focus and creativity.
4. Go Beyond Yourself: They build partnerships across the business, sustain collaboration, and create trust with others.
5. Go Fast: They make timely decisions and are prepared to take action in conditions of uncertainty or ambiguity.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
A strong resume and cover letter that expresses why the candidate wants to work at TubeMogul will help to get our attention. Beyond this we are looking for prospective employees who have a general understanding of our industry and space, and where we are at as a company. Personalizing the cover letter to highlight their passion about the company and the space will give their application a competitive advantage. TubeMogul is also present at a number of networking events. If a candidate is interested in one of our positions, they can reach out to us at one of these events. It will show they are proactive in their approach and will be a great way to get our attention.
Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?
There is nothing unusual about our interviewing process. All interviews scheduled start with a phone interview followed by an in-person panel interview onsite if they move forward to the next round of interviews. Before an employee is able to interview candidates, they must go through Interview Training to understand the interviewing process and ensure interviews held are consistent across the company. Interviewers are given an interview checklist, guidance on how the structure of the interview should be, as well as key competencies to look for in addition to standard job duties. Candidates interviewing for a technical position will be required to go through a white board test to highlight their work.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
We have a strong focus on hiring Engineers and Brand/Enterprise Sellers. The engineers are the brains behind building out and releasing current and new products. Brand Direct Sellers will help tell TubeMogul’s story and enlighten brands and agencies on digital brand advertising.
