Perks and Programs

We asked Trial Runners to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Bring Your Dog to Work: Trial Runners is proud to promote work-life balance and employee happiness through our Bring Your Dog to Work program. Every Friday, employees are encouraged to bring their dogs to work for comfort and companionship.
  • Annual Gratitude Party: Trial Runners founders Jill and Patrick Healy and their staff pay tribute to the holiday season with a celebration of gratitude and blessing, including daytime fun and fellowship and extravagant after-hours entertainment.
  • Rainy Days & Snow Days: Those who work on-site enjoy fresh baked cookies every time it rains or snows. At Trial Runners, we make sure that rainy days and cold snowy days are good days!
  • Work-Aversary Celebration: Each month, Trial Runners celebrates it's employees who have a work anniversary that month. A cake is presented at each monthly potluck, that has been decorated with the names of all employees who had an anniversary during that month.
  • Socially-Conscious Environment: Trial Runners demonstrates commitment to community by sponsoring employee attendance at local fundraising events such as Relay for Life, Boys & Girls Mentoring program, our local Food Pantry and Domestic Violence Shelter, annual Charity Balls, and by volunteering for environmentally-conscious programs such as Adopt-a-Highway. Trial Runners is eager to support causes that are most important to founders and staff.
  • Strategic Summits: Trial Runners holds Strategic Summits each year, including participation from all management levels. The goal for each summit is to identify areas of company growth, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for change or improvement, all to keep the company climbing and moving forward in a positive manner that maintains the companies culture.
  • Birthday Holidays: Trial Runners employees celebrate their birthday with a paid day off during their birthday week each year.
  • Monthly Pot Lucks: In-house staff gather together once monthly in rotating groups to plan and execute a decadent potluck, promoting collaboration, team building, and fun!
  • Flex Hours: Trial Runners employees take advantage of flexible hours, arriving between 7 and 9 am and finishing their work day between 4 and 6 pm, whatever works best for each employee and his or her family.
  • Surprise Dismissals: Often times on on the Fridays' before three day weekends and the day prior to holidays, our company owner and CEO will provide employees with afternoon surprise early dismissals. This allows employees the opportunity to get a head start on their holiday or weekend plans, and more time spent with their families and loved ones, all to help promote work-life balance.

How to Get Hired

We asked Trial Runners for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

When considering prospective employees, Trial Runners looks for candidates that are passionate about the industry, show genuine adaptability, and provide information and/or answers that indicate they are quality-driven. We also take notice to whether or not a candidate will be a cultural fit within the company, considering things such personal accountability, positive or negative tone in their responses, their preference for team vs individually focused duties and tasks, and more.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

For a prospective employee to really gain our attention, there are several ways in which they may go about this. The first would be to show authentic interest in our company and the industry. Show us that you know who we are, what we do, and an understanding of the industry. The second is to highlight relevant achievements. Don't simply tell us where you have worked, or what your interests are, but expand on results, outcomes, and achievements you have accomplished. And finally, show us that you have a true desire to make a difference. Let us see the passionate side of you, a part of you that cares about something bigger out there in the world beyond just you or "us". These are the attributes that we are looking for and genuinely grab our attention when searching for the right candidate.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

When looking into the near future, Trial Runners is focused on adding additional clinical base positions. Specifically, we are looking to increase our project management team with another couple experienced project managers, and a few more experienced clinical research associates.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Our Human Resources Department keeps a Talent Network database of qualified candidates who meet the requirements for one or more positions within the company. This is a living database that continually grows and changes and is not dependent on a position being currently open. We always encourage prospective applicants to complete a Trial Runners application and submit this, along with their Resume/CV, to be added to the Talent Network. If an individual is looking to find out if a specific position is currently open to be filled, this information is listed on our website at, under the "careers" link. This is where you will find the option to submit information to the Talent Network also.
