Employees at Toll Brothers Inc., a national homebuilding company, enjoy just such perks — and plenty more. Employees can use the company’s vacation homes for a fraction of the cost, and on their 10th, 20th and 25th anniversaries, the digs are free for a weeklong trip.
“We build luxury homes that not everyone can afford,” one employee says, “and it's a nice perk to be able to invite your friends and family to stay at a luxury home for a week with a private pool in the backyard in a great location.”
The vacation stays are just part of the allure at Toll Brothers. Eighty-four percent of employees here say they have special and unique benefits, which range from on-site oil changes and stock options to 22 days off after the first year.
Beyond the perks, though, Toll Brothers resonates with people for many other reasons. There’s a friendly culture that 95 percent of employees experience, and also a widespread feeling they’re given a lot of responsibility to do their jobs.
“There is a real sense of pride, friendship, professionalism and fun that you can sense on your first day here,” one employee says. “When you walk around the building, people don't just say hello, they stop to have a quick chat with you.”
Employees here also feel like their work — building a wide range of residential communities — has an impact. At least nine out of 10 say they feel like they make a difference and that they feel pride in what they accomplish.
Most Toll Brothers employees feel supported by management and agree that the upper levels are steering the company in the right direction for the long haul. In fact, 94 percent of employees say management is honest and ethical in its business practices.
“The divisional president and divisional senior vice president both started where I am today and readily share their time and experience with me when requested,” one employee says. “They openly debate ideas, give them a fair shake and do their best not to be biased. I can honestly say I love this company.”
