We asked Third Bridge to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Third Bridge University: We deliver classroom and online skills-based learning sessions across three areas: job skills, industry knowledge and personal development. This year we invested in a new LMS (learning management system) that will allow us to make learning content and classes available to a broader audience. In addition to our internal training, we also provide access to Fitch Learning and Wharton Online Business Certificates. Fitch is an established learning partner to the financial industry, which offers online content on the industry and transferrable skills. The Wharton platform offers Business Analytics Specialization and Business Foundations Specialization. These offerings not only provide foundation skills to help our employees advance in their careers, but also assist them if they see business school in their future.
  • Performance Rewards: In addition to providing salary and bonus incentives, we are a meritocracy and offer additional rewards for high performers as they hit cumulative targets. The options include lunch with our founders, study support for the GMAT and CFA, and secondments to our international offices (two week and one month options, depending on the target that is reached).
  • Team Off-sites: This year we added to our calendar of team off-sites, including our Sales/Account Management and Forum teams. Additionally, we expanded the offering to our Connections team, including another tier of team members. This year we also utilized external providers to deliver training sessions and workshops, which delivered a different dynamic and set of skills to past years when we managed all of the content internally. Teams headed to Portugal, Morocco and locations away from the office but closer to home for these opportunities to learn and build relationships with global colleagues.
  • Social Power: Each team takes its turn to decide how to spend the weekly social budget each month. The possibilities are endless; in the mood to host brunch, a sangria and tapas party, Southern food and whiskey night, or happy hour with appetizers at a fancy rooftop bar?
  • Well-stocked Pantry: Whether you are into Nespresso or Snapple, Coke or Diet Coke, bagels or English muffins, our pantry has it all.
  • Annual Ski Trip: This year saw our second annual office ski trip, which the company part-subsidises. We found ourselves heading for the slopes in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, where every level of the organisation was represented and invited to show off their skills. The team spent three days on the slopes, in the hot tub, and in bars and restaurants around the Canadian village. Some went off piste, while others spent their time being pampered at the local spa.
  • CSR Efforts: The team supports a number of charities. We have spent many weekends and early mornings this year prepping food for God's Love We Deliver; we also participated in a soccer tournament with America Scores; we hosted a career development session with StreetWise Partners; and we supported team members' personal charity efforts. Some of the projects this year included holiday gift wrapping, provision of disaster supplies, assisting with a charity run and gathering supplies for an orphanage in India.
  • Third Bridge Talks: We have recently kicked off this program after seeing how successful it was in our London office. For our first event, three Third Bridge alumni joined us for a round table discussion, where they spoke about their professional and personal memories of Third Bridge, life after working here, and the skills they learned and applied later on in their respective careers. We look forward to welcoming more external speakers in the coming months.
  • Summer Away Day: We host an annual summer away day, when the whole team leaves the office to spend the day together having fun in a different location. This year we are going to Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, where we will be able to enjoy the park with exclusive benefits, participate in a scavenger hunt (for prizes), feast on delicious food and enjoy a local band.
  • New Joiner Experience: We love welcoming new people and are very proud of our on-boarding process. On their first day, every new member of our team receives a Third Bridge hoodie, notebook and pen, and they are taken out to lunch by team members. They are welcomed by the whole office at our weekly social event, which is a time to meet and get to know their colleagues in a relaxed environment. They spend their first two weeks in class room training, which gives them the tools and confidence to perform their job and learn about the culture at Third Bridge. We always asking for feedback and reviewing the process to ensure our new joiners (and facilitators) have the best experience possible.

We asked Third Bridge for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We look for individuals who are self-motivated and have a desire to work in a collaborative environment. Team work is essential at Third Bridge, not just from a business perspective, but a cultural one. Other characteristics that we look for are a desire to learn, adaptable to change, and a passion for tackling new challenges. It is also crucial that new team members share our values of showing respecting, developing others and winning.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Since the majority of our new joiners are recent college graduates, highlighting your various accomplishments, experiences and interests paints a picture to our recruiters that helps grab our attention.  More importantly, it is not just about the name of the school or the company where you interned; we notice someone’s ability to put themselves out there and a desire to grow professionally. It is also helpful if you can consider what we are looking for to determine if you are a good fit for us; being able to demonstrate the competencies we are looking for, as well as a desire to support our culture and values, goes a long way.     

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We hire throughout the year for our Research Analyst role and typically these are individuals that have recently graduated or have about one year of work experience.   Specifically, we look for people who are resourceful, results-driven, and great communicators. They should also love problem solving, either independently or as part of a team.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
