Perks and Programs

We asked TDIndustries to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Free Training and Development: We are committed to growing careers for everyone in our organization. TDIndustries offers 100% education reimbursement and travel.  In order to make it easy for our Partners, we pay for their registration fees and books up front. Additionally, we ask all our Partners (employees) to obtain 32 hours of training yearly through internal or external offering, and we always pay for it!  Plus if you achieve those 32 hours on your own time, you get a free vacation day. Our Diversity Council also contributes monthly to the education of all our Partners on social subjects such as women in the workplace, LGBT, military perspectives, police use of force, favoritism in the workplace, diversity in healthcare and many other topics.
  • Discounted Mechanical Services: In addition to being the best mechanical services provider to our external customers, TDIndustries provides that same level of service to our internal customer, our Partners.  We offer our Partners a discounted rate for electrical, HVAC and plumbing services for their homes. Our Partners know they are getting the highest quality level of service possible when using their fellow Partners. We also share any corporate discounts such as Ford Motor Company, Microsoft Products and any mechanical supplies from our  vendors. We have an online vendor where our field Partners can get work boots every year, up to a $100 free.
  • Wellness Incentives: TDIndustries is committed to the health and well being of our Partners and their families. TD provides reimbursement for wellness items such as gym memberships, fitness equipment, athletic shoes, weight loss memberships, as well the chance to earn cash rewards for completing wellness activities such as completing an annual physical which is 100% covered by the company.  We also are committed to keeping our TD families healthy as well, and our wellness program includes our Partners and spouses. We have an on site health advocate who reaches out to our Partners to answer their questions about medical and benefits issues.  TD provides 24/7, telephonic access to quality medical services and physicians for our Partners and their family's convenience for only a $10 copay.
  • Community Involvement Opportunities: Partners are encouraged to participate in community activities through our internal outreach program called TDServes.  This program has supported numerous causes like United Way.   They provided delivery of hot meals for the Meals on Wheels organization and supported local non-profit children's healthcare organizations such as Texas Scottish Rite's Children's Day and Children's Health Red Balloon Run and Ride. Our TD Partners were also active in supporting great causes in the areas of cancer, leukemia, heart health and underprivileged neighborhoods.  Events have ranged from clothing and food drives to senior citizen support. We encourage our Partners to serve on school boards, in community groups and on non profit boards.  We share our construction skills with Habitat for Humanity, Hearts and Hammers and several others organizations.
  • TD Cares: TDCares is an internal program for Partners who are faced with unexpected, catastrophic events in their lives. The fund helps with funerals, house fires, hurricane damage, critical illness and other unexpected challenges. It has helped many Partners get through some very difficult times in their lives. It is 100% supported by donations of cash and vacation time by fellow Partners.  This program represents who we really are, a family-oriented organization.
  • All Benefits After 30 days: After 30 days, all Partners at TD are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage; a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with $100 annual contribution if elected; 24/7 telephonic physician call for only a $10 copay; and a Heath Reimbursement Account – TD contributes $250 for Partner only or $500 for Partner and family. Partners are also eligible for our 401k/ESOP (employee-ownership) retirement plans, the free Employee Assistance Program, our Wellness Program with a chance to receive bonus money for wellness participation and reimbursement up to $1150, Long-Term Care Insurance, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance options, with the company providing $40,000 in life coverage at no cost to the Partner. All after just 30 days!
  • Share the Good Year Plan: Starting at the end of 2016 our front line, field, and hourly Partners are eligible to receive at least $1,000 when their geographic team reaches 5% operating income. This inspires our Partners to attain a higher level of performance, and provides an incentive opportunity to those Partners not covered under another bonus program.
  • Purchased PPT: This year we offered the opportunity to purchase up to an additional week of paid personal time for use during the year. Many Partners took advantage of the PPT Purchase program, offering added work/ life flexibility, especially to those in their first year of employment.
  • Partner Appreciation: In an effort to connect with our field Partners who are not tied electronically like the rest of our population, we make a concerted effort to visit over 200 job sites to say "Thank You! We appreciate you!" at least 3 times a year and more. Our leadership delivers pizza, ice cream, cookies, breakfast or lunch on a regular basis. It is especially impactful when the temperature is 100 degrees or 20 degrees! Our quarterly business meetings allow every Partner to come in, EAT, win prizes and hear their leadership give a business update. After all everyone is an owner here!
  • Partner Referrals: Our Partner Referral program helps us hire even more talented new Partners while rewarding current Partners for their referrals. TD's job openings continue to increase every month, and we don't envision an end to this growth in the near future. We know our most successful recruiting occurs when Partners refer their industry peers, contacts, friends and family to work at TD. And TDPartners know what it takes to build a great team of superstars! Partners receive between $1000- $5000 per job for their successful referrals.

How to Get Hired

We asked TDIndustries for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

As we focus on being a high performing organization, we constantly seek individuals who share in our commitment to excellence and have a passion for exceeding expectations - trailblazers who strive to continually improve themselves and the work they perform. We seek those who place an emphasis on building and maintaining trusting relationships. We also seek safety minded individuals who make safety a priority for themselves and those around them when they perform their jobs, so that we can all go home to our families in the same condition we went to work.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We seek individuals who are looking for a career and not just a job, and for those positions where we seek prior experierence, seek individuals who have demonstrated work history of increased responsibility and professional growth. We also seek those indivudals whose own personal values align with TDIndustires' Core Values of Fiercely Protect the Safety of All Partners, Lead with a Servant's Heart, Build & Maintain Trusting Relationships, Passionately Pursue Excellence, and who recognize and Celebrate the Power of Individual Differences. Individuals who can provide examples where they have exhibited those values in past situations in their personal or professional lives are sought after. When looking at candidates interested in our skilled trade positions, we are always eager to talk to individuals who desire to learn the trade or who have relevant work experience in our industry that desire a long term relationship with their employer.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We continue to have a increased need to bring in talent from the skilled trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Welding, Refrigeration, Electricians) as well as individuals with experience or an interest in our industry such to perform roles in Project Management, Estimating, Mechanical Engineering and Virtual Design & Construction. An increased effort is taking place to focus on outreach and recruitment efforts at the high school vocational, trade school and college/ university programs to identify talent with an interest in our industry, and a passion to learn, grow and excel in their profession.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
