Perks and Programs

We asked to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Get Fit: TCGplayer provides treadmills, yoga balls & standing desks to reduce the impact of a sedentary office lifestyle, as well as carefully selecting health insurance options that include reduced membership costs at local fitness centers. We support peer-to-peer fitness challenges like this year's Stair Challenge where we kept a leaderboard of physical fitness activities and encouraged employees to use staircases over the elevators.
  • Downtown Lunch Experience: TCGplayer provides a catered lunch once a month, and also loves to venture out from our 10th floor office to explore local festivals and events at nearby Clinton Square in the heart of Downtown. ‘Taste of Syracuse’ and the weekly Farmer’s Market are both a block away and well attended, with treats from the later tending to work their way back up to the cafe.
  • Coffee from Cafe Kubal: TCGplayer has partnered with Syracuse's premier gourmet coffee shop Cafe Kubal to provide premium coffee each day in the break room.
  • Employee Engagement: TCGplayer is proud to celebrate employee’s shared interests. From stimulating discussions in our book club, to group movie screenings and friendly open game nights that include Pokemon Go! walking adventures, TCGplayer provides endless activities and opportunities to mingle and befriend the people around you. Also, through company supported committees and clubs, we host lively birthday parties and company celebrations such as our holiday party, company picnic and Corporate Challenge run.
  • Day One Benefits: New employees are granted full benefits starting on their first day, including paid time off, top of the line health coverage, and retirement plans with company matching.
  • Employee Assistance Program: While promoting physical wellness is important, TCGplayer recognizes that mental wellness has an equal impact on the happiness of our employees, which is why we partnered with HelpPeople EAP to provide confidential assessment and short term counseling services.
  • In-house CPR Certification: Safety is a priority at TCGPlayer, which is why we have our very own in-house Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor. This means that we are not only equipped to deal with on-site emergencies, but employees can also receive their CPR certification from our in-house instructor at no cost.
  • New Employee Referral Program: Maintaining our tight-knit culture is always top-of-mind when considering new candidates, so a referral from an existing employee goes a long way. To reward employees for aiding in the recruiting process, a successful hire earns them a cash referral bonus.
  • Parking: TCGplayer provides company-paid parking to all employees working in our downtown headquarters. For those who may bike, walk or use public transit, we offer a monthly stipend to offset costs for alternate travel.
  • Stress Free Week: At least once a year, we coordinate with local community vendors and charities for a series of stress-relieving, company-paid events that include professional chair massages, arts and crafts activities, plus office visits with puppies and kittens from local animal support groups.

    How to Get Hired

We asked for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We seek out passionate employees, who aspire to “Go Beyond” and help us continuously innovate. To ensure we find the key characteristics in candidates, we use an inclusive multi-step interview process, with a diverse team of at least 3 interviewers. Our questions focus on determining the candidate's ability to collaborate with others, expertise and domain knowledge, and demonstrate alignment to our Core Values.  “A Quest for Knowledge,” for example, means an applicant is inquisitive, curious, tinkering, and always learning. Aligning with the Core Values is the best indicator that somebody will fit within the company.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

During our selection process, prospective employees get our attention in two major ways. First, their application materials (cover letter, resume, video chat screening) demonstrate the candidate’s uniqueness and their individual and professional passions. Secondly, candidates demonstrate the many ways they align with our Core Values.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

As a technology company, we are always looking for developers, engineers, UI designers and business development professionals, who will help us continue building the world’s most powerful digital collectibles’ marketplace.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

We’d love to talk to you. Visit to learn more about our unique culture, what we do and what makes us a nationally regonized workplace and one of the fastest growing businesses in NY state.
