  • Stop Work Authority: In our line of work, safety is everything, and every employee must be empowered to do their part. On every jobsite and in every office location, any employee may exercise "stop work authority" when they observe a situation that poses a risk to others. This is core to our organization and has helped us to realize one of the finest safety records in the industry.
  • Employee Ownership: All employees have the opportunity to participate in ownership of Swinerton, through our ESOP and individual stock ownership programs. This ownership mentality differentiates us as a builder because we all have skin in the game and we know that each of us has the responsibility to act as an owner at all times and in all decisions.
  • LeaderBuilder: A customized leadership development program that over 1000 supervisors and managers have participated in over the years. LeaderBuilder focuses on the leadership challenges unique to our industry utilizing real life case studies shared among peers as well as solid communication, team building and leadership concepts. In each session members of the Executive Committee make themselves available for open questions on issues and policies to help demonstrate and support our commitment to transparency and an open door with management at every level.
  • Radio Swinerton: A regularly scheduled "broadcast" that features our leadership discussing the state of the company, updates on issue and initiatives, or presenting a look inside our various operations. All sessions are opened for questions from the audience and have been extremely well attended since inception. A great outreach tool for our widespread locations.
  • Focused Programs: Intensive training programs that are targeted at specific job groups within our organization. Employees in the same job type from throughout the company are brought together and meet leadership from across the spectrum who teach/facilitate various segments of the program - focused on technical as well as ethics/leadership issues. A key high point is a customized tour of our headquarters city of San Francisco (we've been building here since before 1906) that highlights the legacy of structures that Swinerton has put in place over our 128 year history. Narrated by a member of our Executive Team, it is an unforgettable experience for participants that makes quite an impression about our heritage and character.
  • Swinerton IdeaBuilder: Swinerton's idea builder is an online platform for tracking and evaluating business process ideas and suggestion for improving the working experience. The site is open to every employee and ideas come in from all areas of the business related to various topics such as simplifying work, supporting our employees, and serving our clients. Ideas are voted on by all employees and when enough votes are reached, the suggestions are moved on for further consideration and development. Currently, over 290 ideas have been submitted and numerous ideas have resulted in changes and improvements within our organization.
