How to Get Hired

We asked St. Camillus Life Plan Community for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

While St. Camillus is always hiring caregivers and other professionals to assist in its mission, there are other roles routinely available. St. Camillus continually searches for exceptional CNAs, nurses and aides to join its team. “There’s always an opportunity in those positions,”  explained Kevin Schwab, CEO. “Compassionate care; that’s the most important thing we offer every day,”  said Schwab. “We’re always looking for compassionate and quality team members and we’ll always find a role for a great person.” And what makes a candidate great? At St. Camillus, it’s all about character. “You have to be compassionate,” Schwab said. “The number one thing we do is care for individuals. If you treat people with love and kindness, that’s the majority of the care we provide. You need to demonstrate that.”

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

It's really the basics:  demonstrate enthusiasm - whether talking with us by phone, meeting residents in the lobby, or during the interview - ask questions.  Prospective employees should research our website and Glassdoor to get more information about the company before the interview and dress professionally when coming for an interview.  Teamwork is also critical in our field; it is important for candidates to bring examples of how they've worked together with other team members to resolve problems.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

St. Camillus is seeking individuals with a commitment to compassionate care and a desire to build long-lasting relationships with our residents and clients for the following positions: CNA. Home Health Aide, Home Health RN Case Manager, Staff RN and Staff LPN .  “We have a lot of positions and opportunities for growth on our campus, everything from food service and culinary services to administrative staff and nursing.  We offer employment opportunities for a diverse range of positions.” This includes both the on-site care that St. Camillus provides to its short- and long-term residents, as well as the in-home services that St. Camillus provides to families across the three-county area. “We’re looking for people who want to fulfill our mission to care for the poor and sick with a sense of love and compassion,” Schwab said. “That means we’re looking for people who have a dedication to service and our mission.”
