Perks and Programs

We asked SRC, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Salary and Benefits: We offer our employees a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Highlights include: an exceptional, low-cost health care plan; a minimum of four weeks of paid time off (accrual begins on day one); nine paid holidays each year; 10 percent contribution to your retirement plan; and 100% tuition reimbursement.
  • Flexible Schedules: We provide employees with the options and technology needed to create a work schedule that meets their personal needs while continuing to deliver our best work for our customers. You can work a compressed work week, set a schedule that aligns with your spouse’s work schedule or child care needs, leave early one day to attend a child’s game or performance and make up the time later in the week or even work from home for a day to meet a repairman or avoid driving in a snow storm. We believe that employees who have been given the time and tools necessary to manage their personal and work lives experience increased productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Philanthropic Focus: We take an active role in the community by supporting local non-profit organizations through volunteering and financial assistance. We focus our efforts on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education; the military; and United Way. Through our corporate volunteer program, SRC Cares, we sponsor many corporate volunteer events throughout the year and recognize employees’ individual contributions in the community. We also host an annual volunteer fair to connect employees with non-profit organizations, and have a Volunteer Leadership Board led by employees who give direction for our volunteer efforts. Through our Community Internship Program, SRC funds paid summer internships at local non-profit organizations for our employees’ dependents.
  • Fun Events and Activities: We work hard and we play hard too. We plan holiday parties, backyard picnics, free flapjack days, ice cream truck visits, competitions and other events throughout the year to help you get to know your coworkers. We also encourage grassroots participation in outside sporting events, clubs or lunch groups to foster relationships. In June 2017, in honor of SRC’s 60th anniversary, we hosted a variety of events and activities to commemorate this special milestone. Employees and guests attended celebrations at special locations across the country. We also held photo and trivia contests, picnics and volunteer events; had employees select commemorative gifts; and offered to match contributions employees made to local non-profit organizations.
  • Transparency and Two-Way Communication: We foster a culture of transparency and allow employees to ask questions or give feedback in a variety of ways. Through mid-year and annual presentations, you’ll be informed on the “state of the company” and have an opportunity to ask questions about our business. At round table meetings, you’ll get to meet with members of our executive team in a small group setting to discuss topics important to you. You’ll be able to make suggestions for improvements to the way we do things, provide feedback on initiatives or new ideas and your opinions will help shape the future of SRC.
  • 100% Tuition Support: SRC's tuition support program covers 100% of tuition and fees for up to 18 credit hours per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level. Our program is designed so schools bill SRC directly, there's no need to front costs and be reimbursed later.
  • 10% Retirement Contribution: All employees are required to contribute at least 5 percent of their salary to their retirement account. In return, SRC contributes the equivalent of 10 percent of an employee's pre-tax salary to their retirement. We also help employees prepare for their retirement goals by providing on-site consultations with advisors, educational materials, and even trivia challenges to provide the information you need to make the best choice for your personal situation. Our retirement plan is managed by TIAA, a leading provider of financial services in the academic, research, medical, cultural and government fields.
  • Not-for-Profit Advantage: SRC is a not-for-profit organization without stockholders. This allows us to continuously reinvest and improve the quality of the company, our people and programs. We invest heavily in professional development, facility upgrades, equipment, internal research and development projects, and business diversification initiatives. Our not-for-profit status also means we can work for the customer and best solution - not the bottom line. We never attempt to cut corners — we strive to deliver beyond expectations.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: SRC is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace where each person feels welcomed, is accepted as a member of the organization, and that their contributions are valued. We believe in leveraging the talents of everyone in the organization because innovation and creativity thrive when we acknowledge and promote individual differences.
  • Innovation with a Purpose: Innovation is important to the success and growth of SRC. We provide employees several ways to tap into their creative side and increase the innovative capacity of the company. Patents: We encourage employees to develop inventions and support them throughout the entire patenting process. Intrapreneurship Initiative: We ask employees for ideas for new products and services through our Intrapreneurship Initiative. This incubator and investment program provides funding and support to develop these ideas, create a business case, and hopefully bring them to market. Business process improvements: Improvements to everyday tasks can be just as useful as patents and intellectual property. We encourage employees to look for new and innovative ways to do things to make sure we are using our resources as efficiently as possible.

How to Get Hired

We asked SRC, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Recruiters see a lot of resumes every day so highlighting key characteristics is very helpful for that “first glance” at a candidate’s profile. We look for relevant work experience, ability to be creative and innovative, and problem-solving skills. In addition, because SRC is a collaborative environment, we look for candidates with strong behavioral competencies, especially in emotional intelligence, to ensure they can work well in a team. As recruiters there is a lot of pressure to find the right match - hiring managers want a candidate who has strong technical skills and will fit into the organizational culture.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Ramp up your resume: make your profile stand out by highlighting your key technical skills, certifications and attributes. Take advantage of social media to network with us and other companies you have your eye on. Joining talent communities for different employers is a great way to stay up to speed on current openings and keep in touch with recruiters.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We continue to have a need for systems, software and test engineers at various levels. We are also seeking individuals with backgrounds in machine-learning and optical engineering. There are also plenty of opportunities for candidates interested in other professional areas we have available.
