What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
Squarespace looks for employees who will be active agents in helping build the great future we see for our company and product. We look for people who are tenacious, self motivated, and excited about bringing great ideas to life. We are a company of doers who are not afraid to test assumptions and speak up for what we believe is important. In such a fast paced environment, it's vital that employees are clear and persuasive communicators and that they demonstrate strong judgement. Each employee brings their own unique perspective that should enrich and elevate their team.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Prospective employees can stand out by giving us insight into who they are as person and what motivates them. We like to see the work that someone is proud of, whether that's a portfolio, code they've written, or a story they can share from their experience. Coming prepared with a perspective on our product can also be a differentiator. Even if someone hasn't built a site on Squarespace, if they can connect to the product in a meaningful way, it indicates that they will be a committed contributor once they join the company.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
We are hiring across the board. Marketing, Design, Product, Finance, and Strategy all have high-priority roles open. The biggest growth will be in Engineering, as we plan to double the team this year.
