Perks and Programs

We asked Squarespace to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Customer Ops Exchange Program: The Customer Operations Exchange Program gives team members the opportunity to visit another office, lead a project, and work with employees in another location. The purpose of the Exchange Program is to support professional development, encourage collaboration, improve communication, and provide members of our team with the opportunity to experience our unique office cultures.
  • Wellness Week: During Wellness Week, Squarespace brings in award-winning vendors and subject-matter experts in all of our locations to host sessions and seminars on the six pillars of wellness: financial, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational, and physical. This includes onsite chair massages, acupuncture, yoga, and nutrition consultations to name a few.
  • Sessions: Sessions @ Squarespace is a program that provides employees with the opportunity to improve their public speaking skills by giving a 20-minute presentation on any topic in front of their location, followed by an audience Q&A. The Training & Development team works with the employees over a period of months to expand their knowledge on a chosen topic, refine their narrative, and prep them for public speaking.
  • CEO Office Hours: Our monthly CEO Office Hours with Founder & CEO Anthony Casalena is an opportunity for employees to ask anything about the business, our product, or anything else on their minds. Guests often join Anthony in discussion for this hourlong session, ranging from our VP of Engineering to Directors of Product.
  • Tell Us More: Tell Us More is a monthly program that invites employees to submit actionable feedback regarding the Squarespace product suite, including feature requests, improvements, and even new product ideas. Submissions are voted up or down by all employees and the top five submission are reviewed and responded to by our Directors of Product and Product Managers. Suggestions often make it into our product roadmap using this direct route to our product leaders.
  • Women At Squarespace: Women At Squarespace is a monthly speaker series where we host a conversation and Q&A with women (or significantly female-identified persons) at Squarespace with the aim of sharing experiences, forming a community, and inspiring others. All Squarespace employees are welcome to attend.
  • Customer Operations Spotlight: Spotlight is a quarterly employee recognition program that highlights our Customer Operations team members who go above and beyond what is expected of them. Recipients are awarded a $500 gift card to use toward a special interest or hobby.
  • $5,000 Cash Bonus for Internal Referrals: The generous $5,000 internal bonus is for every Squarespace staff member who refers a successful new full-time, exempt hire. This bonus recognizes and reinforces the fact that referrals by existing staff tend to result in a good cultural fit.
  • Quarterly Hack Weeks: Every three months, a week is set aside for our Engineering and Design teams to work on whatever they want for a whole week. This is a time to encourage new ideas, creativity, and innovation from within our organization. Every participant presents their idea to the entire company at the end of the week. Ideas from Hack Week often make it into the Product team’s roadmap.
  • Donation Matching: Squarespace offers employees the opportunity to make charitable donations to qualified charitable organizations through payroll or via credit card. This program supports employee giving by offering an option to match—up to $600 per person each calendar year—employees’ cash contributions to their favorite charitable organizations and thus improve their communities.

How to Get Hired

We asked Squarespace for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Squarespace looks for employees who will be active agents in helping build the great future we see for our company and product. We look for people who are tenacious, self motivated, and excited about bringing great ideas to life. We are a company of doers who are not afraid to test assumptions and speak up for what we believe is important. In such a fast paced environment, it's vital that employees are clear and persuasive communicators and that they demonstrate strong judgement. Each employee brings their own unique perspective that should enrich and elevate their team.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees can stand out by giving us insight into who they are as person and what motivates them. We like to see the work that someone is proud of, whether that's a portfolio, code they've written, or a story they can share from their experience. Coming prepared with a perspective on our product can also be a differentiator. Even if someone hasn't built a site on Squarespace, if they can connect to the product in a meaningful way, it indicates that they will be a committed contributor once they join the company.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are hiring across the board. Marketing, Design, Product, Finance, and Strategy all have high-priority roles open. The biggest growth will be in Engineering, as we plan to double the team this year.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
