Perks and Programs

We asked Squarespace to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Donation matching: Squarespace offers employees the opportunity to make charitable donations to qualified charitable organizations through payroll or via credit card. This program supports employee giving by offering an option to match—up to $600 per person each calendar year—employees’ cash contributions to their favorite charitable organizations and thus improve their communities.
  • Quarterly Hack Weeks: At least twice a year, a week is set aside for our Engineering and Design teams to work on whatever they want. This is a time to encourage new ideas, creativity, and innovation from within our organization. Every participant presents their idea to the entire company at the end of the week. Ideas from Hack Week often make it into the Product team’s roadmap. Read a more detailed description of Hack Week in the Develop Section - Freedom and Autonomy.
  • Conference Sponsorships: We sponsor a number of conferences every year that benefit our employees both in terms of skills advancement and career development. From technical engineering conferences to diversity and inclusion sponsorships like Grace Hopper, we believe in investing in our employees so that they may further their careers inside and outside of Squarespace.
  • CEO Office Hours: Our monthly CEO Office Hours with Founder & CEO Anthony Casalena is an opportunity for employees to ask anything about the business, our product, or anything else on their minds. Guests often join Anthony in discussion for this hour long session, ranging from our VP of Engineering to Directors of Product.
  • Summer Party: The annual Summer Party event in each location gives an opportunity for all staff to socialize with family, friends, and colleagues. There is food, music, and activities for adults and kids alike. Activities include onsite arts & crafts, life-sized checkers, mini-golf, and and amazing food from local Squarespace customers.
  • Squarespace ERGs: We have a number of ERGs that are employee-led and Squarespace-supported with set funding, senior leadership sponsorship, and official marketing (i.e. promoted via public recruiting collaterals). This includes everything from "Queerspace"(LGBTQ) to "Black at Squarespace" and beyond. Full list: SQSP-API (spelled out: Squarespace Asian-Pacific Islander) Queerspace Allies Women in Engineering (WIE) Women at Squarespace Black at Squarespace (BASS) Mental Health People of Color/Queer People of Color PDX Trans PDX *PDX denotes ERGs that exist specifically in our Portland office, whereas other ERGs exist in multiple locations"
  • Team Q&A and Team-Hosted Happy Hours: Each month, we encourage teams to sign up for a Team Q&A. This event is streamed to all 3 locations and serves as an opportunity for the team to introduce themselves and their work to the rest of the org. Additionally, the team also hosts that month's happy hour. They help design the food and drink menu and then serve up drinks in our office bar on a casual Friday.
  • New Hire Social: Every month we welcome our new hires with our New Hire Social. We host the social in our office cafe/bar area and fill the space with games, food, and drinks. We also build a deck that includes every new hire's photo, team, and a fun fact about them to help get the conversation started. Additionally, we pick a "question of the month" to help encourage employees to get to know each other. One recent question that was a real hit was "What's your favorite TV show theme song?"
  • Getting Started with Squarespace & free website: Employees receive a free lifetime Squarespace account and can attend a "Getting Started with Squarespace" workshop hosted by our world-class customer operations team.
  • Tution Reimbursement: We reimburse up to $3000 per calendar year for continuing education. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of this perk by exploring coding and business courses that will help them grow their careers at Squarespace and beyond.

How to Get Hired

We asked Squarespace for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Squarespace looks for employees who will be active agents in helping build the great future we see for our company and product. We look for people who are tenacious, self motivated, and excited about bringing great ideas to life. We are a company of doers who are not afraid to test assumptions and speak up for what we believe is important. In such a fast paced environment, it's vital that employees are clear and persuasive communicators and that they demonstrate strong judgement. Each employee brings their own unique perspective that should enrich and elevate their team.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees can stand out by giving us insight into who they are as person and what motivates them. We like to see the work that someone is proud of, whether that's a portfolio, code they've written, or a story they can share from their experience. Coming prepared with a perspective on our product can also be a differentiator. Even if someone hasn't built a site on Squarespace, if they can connect to the product in a meaningful way, it indicates that they will be a committed contributor once they join the company.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are hiring across the board. We anticipate the most growth in Creative and Engineering this year, but Marketing, Product, and Strategy also have high-priority roles open.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Interested candidates can learn more by visiting our Careers page:, or finding us on LinkedIn.
