Perks and Programs

We asked Softchoice to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Diversity and Inclusion: At Softchoice we also foster a culture of inclusion and fairness, where diverse interests, experiences, and backgrounds are celebrated. We strive to empower and unleash the potential of everyone, to ensure that every employee has a path to success. The employee-led ONEsoftchoice committee works with senior leadership to increase visibility and awareness of diversity and inclusion at Softchoice, identify and remove any barriers to employee success, and support and celebrate our diversity through a growing network Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These ERGs are Leading Women, orangePRIDE, Shades of Orange and HELLO ERG.
  • Learning and Development: We firmly believe that a business grows as its people learn. We are continuously dedicated to the growth and development of our employees.  Available to all employees, Softchoice University provides best-in-class programs and tools in classroom settings, online self-serve courses, and one-to-one mentorships. It is the vehicle that delivers all of our learning and development programs, such as: Manager Essentials, Emerging Managers and Morpheus. Also available to all Softchoice employees, LinkedIn Learning offers curated content based on individual roles within the organization. In addition, our leaders throughout the organization also have the ability to curate learning paths for their teams based on their independent needs.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Softchoice provides employees with flexible work arrangements to ensure we provide the best possible solutions to promote work/life balance for all of our employees where it is reasonable and practical to do so. With the support of our leadership team, Softchoice empowers employees to adjust their work schedule through flexible work hours or telecommuting from home, other Softchoice offices, or other remote locations on an "as needed" basis or on a regular schedule. We have technology solutions that facilitate telecommuting and collaboration with others working remotely and on different schedules.  When the nature of the work allows, these options can respond to a range of personal needs and preferences and can increase an employee’s ability to manage personal and family responsibilities and commitments.
  • Gym Facilities: At Softchoice, health is extremely important and we know how hard getting to the gym can be! And so, at many of our locations, we offer gym facilities right on site! Some of the locations include Seattle and Toronto. Other sites are provided with discount memberships to gyms in their area to make it easier to get to the gym!
  • Parking and Transit Subsidy: We offer our employees subsidies for either taking a greener commute (transit) or parking if they drive. For our green commute, Softchoice offers a transit subsidy to provide resources and support to encourage the use of public/mass transit instead of driving. We pay each employee $75 dollars per month to help offset the cost of buying a transit pass! For parking, employees who park at Softchoice lots pay a maximum amount of $100 per month. If the cost is greater than $100, Softchoice pays the remaining balance!
  • Softchoice Referral Program: We are always looking for great talent and, the truth is, great employees know great people! We offer our employees a generous referral bonus depending on the role for recommending talent that we end up hiring. This is a great incentive for employees to recommend their friends, family or past colleagues. This program has been quite successful as 32 per cent of our hires comes from referrals!
  • Employee Investment Plan: Even though we are a privately-held company, all employees have the opportunity to purchase stock in the company and become a shareholder. We have hundreds of folks working here now that own a part of Softchoice, and we could not be more proud!
  • Monthly Beverage/Snack Cart: On the first Friday of each month, each office participates in a monthly beverage cart. It's a time for folks in each location to socialize with each other and enjoy a free drink and snack. Most months also have themes like the one in April of this year for opening season for baseball, so all employees have been encouraged to wear a t-shirt or ball cap supporting their favorite team!
  • Bring Your Dog to Work: We are a dog friendly company, and at most of our offices encourage our employees to bring their pooches to work. Dogs in the workplace have a tremendous benefit on the dog, dog owner, and the office in general. If you've never taken time out of your work day to pet a dog, you are missing out!
  • Softchoice Cares: We believe in the power of giving back. With our employee-led Softchoice Cares Program and Power Up initiatives, you can help close the digital divide in communities and classrooms around the world. Softchoice Cares is an employee-inspired and employee-driven philanthropic program that reaches across borders to show our caring in a very tangible way. Our approach allows our employees to make a difference here in our own back yard, across North America and international borders.

How to Get Hired

We asked Softchoice for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

At Softchoice, we are all about diversity! A great way to tell if someone will flourish in our culture is by some of their key characteristics. When we are interviewing prospective employees, regardless of the role they are applying for, we are looking for passion. People need to be passionate about what they do - whether it is a passion for sales, technology, operations, marketing or HR. This is something that all employees at Softchoice have in common and a large part of our culture. Another way to tell if someone will be a great fit is if they embody our core values. We find that people do their best when they are driven by personal and professional development, when they take care of their peers and colleagues, when they are passionate about their customers, and when they own the end result. People who exemplify these values will no doubt be a great fit for Softchoice.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

To get our attention and to stand out, prospective employees should do their research! When we are interviewing candidates, there is nothing that makes a candidate stand out more than someone who is well prepared for the interview and has done their research on Softchoice and can provide key insights to our industry. When people understand what we do and how they can provide value to Softchoice it truly makes them stand out from the rest. Having done this also enables prospective employees to truly understand if Softchoice is the employer for them. What are some challenges and opportunities within the industry? What is our culture like? Knowing the answers to these types of questions will prove to us that you have done your homework, understand what a day in the life of a Softchoicer truly is, and that we should hire you!

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

As a company that is focused on supporting the business outcomes of our customers through technology enablement, having strong, technically skilled people in services roles is paramount. Our Engineers, Architects and other technical resources are key to our success and we are proud to provide these types of exciting opportunities. In the next year, we are really looking for technical talent with skills and experience in cloud, hybrid IT, and emerging technologies. We will always be dedicated to hiring great sales professionals for a variety of different roles in the following divisions: our Territory Sales Division, Telesales Division and our Outside Sales Division. Some of the roles that we focused on hiring for include our Territory Sales Representatives, Inside Sales Account Managers and our Outside Sales Representatives. Our focus is on attracting sales professionals with a Challenger mindset to support our commitment to teach, tailor and educate our customers through data-driven insights.
