Perks and Programs

We asked Slalom, LLC. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • PTO/Sabbatical Program: One of the most significant things we did as an organization in 2016 was re-imagining our Paid Time Off (PTO) policy and sabbatical program. Based on feedback from our employees, we have extended the amount of annual PTO for all employees, and introduced a tenure-based escalation of amount of PTO earned each year. We have removed the constraints surrounding our original sabbatical program that made it available only for consultants, earned once every three years, and paid out at 75% of salary. Instead, we have provided a broader benefit available to all employees that honors the intent of the sabbatical while providing the flexibility and full pay our employees asked for.
  • Annual Market Retreats: Once each of our offices achieves sustained profitability, employees are invited with a guest to attend an annual all-expenses-paid weekend retreat for their market. Planned and executed by a team of employees, each market's retreat is uniquely named and has a flavor all its own. The weekend is a celebration of our people and culture: it’s about connecting and having fun. In the last several years, you might have found our team members golfing, hiking, biking, wine tasting, playing the live version of ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’, white water rafting, playing lawn and board games, or showing off their impressive vocal stylings through karaoke or rock-araoke.
  • Equity Incentive Program: We strongly believe employee ownership instills a greater sense of accountability for investors to continue to demonstrate the characteristics that earned them the invitation to invest, as well as to grow themselves and the company. Significant progress has been made to broaden ownership throughout the company, and we remain excited to continue offering this opportunity to more employees in the years to come.
  • Leadership Development Programs: Slalom invites leaders to participate in innovative professional development programs. The 10-month Integral Leadership Program (ILP) is for senior leaders, and includes 360 feedback, in-person workshops, executive coaching, and practices designed to develop key capabilities that drive leadership effectiveness. The 8-month Lift Program targets emerging leaders with similar content, with coaching from ILP graduates.
  • Adopt-An-Org: Our Adopt-An-Org program provides opportunities through volunteer events, fundraisers, and pro bono engagements. Each office is working with a local educational nonprofit of their choice to empower youth through education in business and technology. At the end of the year, the office with the best partnership and impact will win a Slalom grant for their “adopted” organization. For the 2015-2016 cycle, these organizations included Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Capital Community College Foundation, YES Prep, BestPrep, Year Up, Education First, and Beyond 12. Through this approach, we support a cause that’s not only imperative for society overall, but one that is both relevant and strategically important to the future of our company. .
  • Widening the Circle: Inclusion at its core lets our employees feel confident and secure in the knowledge that they are an integral part of what makes Slalom successful and special. We celebrate authenticity—one of our core values—and encourage people to show up every day as their genuine selves. To move the dial and achieve the benefits of better inclusion and diversity, in 2015 we launched our "Widening the Circle – Inclusion at Slalom" workshop, which provides everyone at Slalom with the tools and information to better understand Inclusion in practice and gives everyone a common language to talk about inclusion at Slalom.
  • GLASS: GLASS (Gay, Lesbian and Allied Employees Succeeding at Slalom)—GLASS continues to champion our LGBT and allied communities. For the third year running, Slalom received a perfect 100% score on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index rating American workplaces on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Equality. After being the top-viewed exhibitor at the Reaching Out LGBT MBA & Business Graduate Conference in San Francisco, CA in 2014, Slalom was again a proud sponsor of the ROMBA conference in Chicago, IL in 2015 and in New Orleans, LA in 2016.
  • Slalom Veterans: Slalom Veterans—Launched on Veteran’s Day (11/11/2015), Slalom Veterans recognizes and honors the military service of our fellow team members and works to foster the diverse experience and backgrounds of our veteran community. Its mission is to ensure that veterans at Slalom are recognized and empowered by a program that helps engage, educate, recruit, and retain veterans within the company, and to extend that to our local markets by engaging with the veteran community in a meaningful way. We additionally announced our partnership with the Salesforce Vetforce program in 2015.
  • Women's Leadership Network: WLN (Women’s Leadership Network)—WLN seeks to engage, inspire, and encourage every Slalom woman to achieve her full and unique potential. This group continues to support initiatives and events in all Slalom markets with the goal of forming a diverse, balanced community with true gender parity in the workplace.
  • SPICE: SPICE (Slalom Program for Innovative and Creative Endeavors)—SPICE is an activity-focused group, formed around stimulating the creative mind and fostering connections between like-minded employees. The group was formed to provide an alternative to social gatherings that typically include happy hours or sports.

How to Get Hired

We asked Slalom, LLC. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We look for people of exceptional character and intelligence who embody our Core Values. Our team is made up of experienced consulting and industry leaders who are also great people. We hire passionate self-starters who bring teams together to embolden, inspire, and help create work environments that are infectious, exciting, and exhilarating. We are proud of our 100% organic growth, and a body of  consultants who are handpicked largely through employee referrals.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We look at the potential of individuals who want to continuously evolve. We hire people who believe that every day presents an opportunity to progress, to change for the better, and to help others change for the better. The consulting industry is a relatively small world, and reputation goes a long way. Knowledge of Slalom, our industry, and an effort to understand our business also makes potential team members stand out.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

On the technology side, we have seen an uptick in demand for candidates with expertise in Information Management and Analytics, Salesforce, Tableau, and Sitecore. In terms of business consulting, we have seen increased demand for individuals with consulting and business development expertise. We look to these individuals to not only deliver, but help grow and expand our business with existing and new clients.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Our website provides a great look at Slalom’s business and company culture. An interested candidate should start by looking at our website ( and be familiar with our offerings, articles, and customer stories. From there, look at our current opportunities and submit an application. Personal relationships are also important, and asking a friend at Slalom to pass along the resume is another great way to get an introduction.
