  • Annual Mexico Trip & Summer Alignment: SendGrid believes in building a strong and connected team, so we host two retreats a year to give Gridders a chance to align around company objectives and spend quality time bonding. Gathering together in Colorado during the summer for KASA (Kick Ass Summer Alignment) and traveling abroad to the beaches of Mexico in the winter for KAKO (Kick Ass Kick Off), our outings are filled with team-building exercises—and plenty of time to build genuine friendships. It’s important to note that we fly all regular full-time Gridders to these locations, 100% paid for, because we feel so strongly around aligning the workforce to our vision and strategy. We know this alignment and connective tissue is key to achieving our goals and having a highly engaged team.
  • Food: We provide a meal allowance of up to $12 per day to be used at selected local restaurants in all of our markets. In addition, we stock our kitchens so that people can have breakfast or have soup, sandwich or salads at lunch when they don't have time to go out. Once a week, we cater a lunch in the office so that people can eat together and enjoy some team building time over a meal.
  • Prism / Diversity & Inclusion: Prism is a new initiative that is designed to make SendGrid a more diverse and inclusive workplace. We recently conducted a D&I survey and are creating action items for areas that we believe will have the greatest impact on our goals of being a place where as we say "not only are you invited to the're comfortable enough to dance!" We recently hired two incredible women for two executive positions (SVP of Sales & Customer Success and Chief People Officer), dedicated 150 hours of diversity recruiting to create a more richly diverse candidate pipeline and enhanced our internal D&I education and implemented exercises to increase awareness.
  • Onboarding: We invest a full 3 days on boarding our new hires to ensure they are well grounded in our business, our processes, and our culture. Each new hire team forms a cohort which provides them with additional support as they acclimate to SendGrid and includes sponsorship from a more senior member of the SendGrid family. Other onboarding offerings are offered following every new hire's initial onboarding including programs like, Support Bootcamp, open to all Gridders.
  • Employee Recognition: The Employee Recognition Program seeks to create and nurture an extraordinary culture of recognition and appreciation by way of quarterly awards. We realize that when Gridders are truly engaged, they are emotionally invested and ‘the organization’ becomes ‘my organization.’ Our four quarterly award categories are specifically tied to the things we value, cultural language, and organizational goals. Gridders nominate peers, managers, direct reports, and teams with touching nominations. A cross-functional Recognition Committee reviews and scores nominations, and then the highest scoring nominees are announced at our quarterly meetings in addition to other awards and recognition.
  • Parental Leave: SendGrid champions a Gridder’s choice to grow their family, and we know that caring for a new child is an exciting time that also takes some adjusting. So in addition to FMLA or other State Leave time, SendGrid will pay 5 weeks of leave at 100% of salary for new parents, both mothers and fathers, who take time off from work (following the date of birth or adoption of child). The benefit will be available to Gridders for up to 12 months from the date of birth or adoption of the child and can be used either as a block of time or on an intermittent basis.
  • Parking/Commuting: All Gridders are offered parking passes (if needed and available) at a nearby or building connected parking garage. Dependent upon office location, they may be eligible to receive a commuting allowance in place of a parking pass. Gridders who live in the surrounding Boulder, Colorado area have the option to ride on one of two SendGrid branded buses equipped with Wi-Fi, tables, and power outlets. This is the first Wi-Fi shuttle bus offered in Colorado and riders ride in the fast lane to help shorten their commute time.
  • Stock Options: Gridders are a valued contributor to SendGrid’s success and we believe they should share in the monetary rewards that come from that success. Our stock options are designed to create a shareholder mindset for all Gridders and are part of each new hires compensation package. In addition, we provide annual refresher grants so that people continue to build their ownership in the company as they grow their tenure.
  • Cell Phone Allowance: Whether using cellphones to play the latest and greatest game, or sending cohorts emojis, there is a high likelihood Gridders may use their cell phone for work related purposes. For that reason, we give out a $75/month allowance that is directly added to paychecks -- no matter what and without having to fill in a monthly expense report.
  • Wellness Allowance: We are advocates for healthy lifestyles and champion Gridders to pursue healthy passions outside of the Grid. We award a $100/month wellness allowance to keep our people happy and healthy. Examples of how this perk can be utilized for healthy living include institution memberships (gyms, wellness spas, and the like), fitness products, race entries, etc. In addition to this wellness allowance, we also have a 24/7 gym in our headquarters in Denver that is accessible to all Gridders.
