  • Rust-Oleum Cares: Rust-Oleum Cares is committed to helping others in our community. Rust-Oleum Cares is led by champions who facilitate the program at their office, manufacturing facility or distribution center all over the world. Through volunteer opportunities, sponsorship, monetary and in-kind donations our champions partner with local charities to change, restore and transform communities in which we work and live. No matter their role in our organization, all Rust-Oleum associates have a voice in who we help because making a difference is part or our culture. It's a program with support from the top of the organization, but thrives and grows as a result of involvement from each and every associate. Every associate receives 8 hours of paid time off to volunteer during the year, and our Matching Gift Program matches 100% of charitable contributions made by each associate up to $400 per year.
  • Rust-Oleum University: Rust-Oleum University offers hundreds of training sessions on and off our campus. From in-house workshops to classes at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, the robust curriculum will help you achieve your potential. Through a series of webinars, live workshops and offsite classes, expert instructors share knowledge that will keep you sharp and accelerate your career plans. All associates have required training classes every year. We recently purchased a building across the street from our corporate offices that is known as the Development Center, and it is a state of the art training and meeting facility.
  • Continuous Improvement Program: Staying ahead of our competitors and meeting the needs of our customers are keys to our continued success. This means always working with a continuous improvement mindset. Continuous Improvement at Rust-Oleum, is defined as a systematic approach to improving how things are done. If there is something that causes frustration, could be done better or simply does not work, then FIX IT. There is a formalized way to get things “fixed” and the first step is to open a QIO (Quality Improvement Opportunity). Any associate can identify a problem and will be assigned a group of people to work with on the solution. Associates who complete a QIO will receive $100 for submitting it or $50 for working on the team. At each location, the best QIO is identified on a quarterly basis and winners receive monetary and other recognition in front of their peers.
  • Royal Scot Society: The Royal Scot Society was founded in 1968 to honor Rust-Oleum associates achieving 20 years or more of service. New members are welcomed upon their 20th anniversary. Associates are further honored upon their 25th anniversary with a watch to commemorate the event. Each year, all Royal Scot Society members are invited to a luncheon in their honor. Retirees who leave the company with 20 or more years of service are invited back as well.
  • Subsidized Cafeteria/Coffee Bar: You can stop by “Captain’s Corner” and refresh yourself with a real fruit smoothie or get a jolt of caffeine from our full-service coffee bar. Hungry for a healthy breakfast or lunch? Our in-house subsidized café offers a full menu of delicious hot and cold options. And when the weather is nice, you can take that meal outside to the patio. Enjoy some fresh air and catch up on conversation while enjoying some rays.
  • Service Awards: Associates receive service recognition at 5, 10, 15, 20 years and continuing at five year increments. They get to select a gift from a personalized catalog, where the value of the gifts increases with each milestone, from about $100 to $1,000.
  • Rust-Oleum Scholarship: Every year, children of associates can apply for $2,500 scholarships to be applied at a college of their choice. When the student is a junior in high school, they can apply by submitting their GPA, test scores, letters of recommendation and a personal essay. Last year we awarded 18 scholarships to college bound students.
  • Employee Events and Celebrations: If we have a successful fiscal year we have a special luncheon celebration at all our facilities. We also have a company picnic in the summer at our larger locations. All our locations also have December holiday luncheons for associates. Each associate receives a corporate holiday gift delivered to their home. Each associate also receives a birthday card personally signed by their division executive.
  • Breakfast with Santa: At our larger facilities, we hold a breakfast in early December where associates' children and grandchildren can come and meet Santa. Children are given a gift and take a nice photo sitting on Santa's lap. There are fun events, games and crafts for kids to enjoy while they are waiting their turn to sit on Santa's lap. This is one of associates' favorite events each year.
  • Assistance with Bereavement: In addition to our generous bereavement time off policy, we give associates who have lost a spouse or child a $3,000 payment, grossed up, to help cover funeral costs.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

As a sales-driven company, many of our open positions will be related to revenue generation.  Filling sales and marketing roles will be a key focus. We’ll also be hiring for jobs in our manufacturing facilities and distribution centers as we grow our production capacity.
