We asked Retrofit to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Free Retrofit program: Retrofit provides an opportunity for every employee to participate in our weight-management and disease-prevention program. Each employee receives the personalized attention of a live coach, a smart app, dashboard and self-monitoring devices (a Fitbit and digital scale) for tracking and notifications, access to expert-led classes and social support from an online community where employees can engage with each other and post pictures, updates, resources, etc. to keep each other motivated, happy and healthy!
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO: As a healthy lifestyle company, we understand that happier employees are more productive.  We want our employees to be able to enjoy the things they love to do.  Retrofit employees benefit from our unlimited vacation policy, which allows employees to take off as much time as they need/desire as long as they can complete their work or arrange for coverage while they are out of the office. We also offer days off for birthdays, the day off before Thanksgiving and a Retrofit Recharge week where employees take time off to relax and enjoy time with family during the last week of the year.
  • Work from anywhere: Retrofit is headquartered in downtown Chicago but has employees all over the country. Even in Chicago, on any given day, many Retrofit employees choose to work remotely. This means less time commuting and more time for the other things that make us happy.  A variety of technologies allow our employees to stay connected and productive no matter where they are. We even celebrate the holidays with a live and virtual party!
  • Flexible work hours: We recognize that work is only a part of our employees lives. We try to make it as easy as possible for our employees to seamlessly integrate work into their lives. Not all Retrofit employees work the same schedule. We have full-time and part-time employees. Some work early or late. This allows us to best serve our clients and customers while providing flexibility to our employees.
  • Treadmill desks and more: We know that part of a healthy lifestyle is moving throughout the day. We walk the talk and walk while we talk. We encourage our employees to get up and get moving. Our office space includes treadmill desks, standing desks and fitness equipment. We also offer regular employee step challenges to encourage employees to get moving and we take breaks for yoga and other exercise during all company meetings.
  • Healthy snacks: Another way we walk the talk is by offering healthy snacks in the office. Complimentary fruit and other healthy tasty treats are on hand to give employees the energy they need to perform and feel great.
  • Good Egg Days: Employees are encouraged to take off one day per quarter to make a difference in their communities through volunteerism at a charity of their choice.
  • Treat Yourself Days: All employees receive a day off on their birthday.
  • Thank You Day: All employees receive the day off before Thanksgiving. This is in addition to Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, which are already holidays. It is our way of showing gratitude for all that our employees do.
  • Fitness Reimbursement Program: We offer a $50 annual reimbursement for wellness-related activities. This includes 5K races, gym memberships and workout gear to encourage employees to be active.

We want people whose personal values align with Retrofit's values: candid, always innovating, driven to deliver, good egg, and customer delight. Prospective employees should be "good eggs" who are genuine, compassionate, good-hearted, and no big egos. They want to make a difference both for the employers and individual weight-loss clients we serve.
