We asked ReliaQuest to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • RQP3: Each January, ReliaQuest hosts an all-company conference titled ReliaQuest “Plan, Partner, Propel,” or “RQP3.” At RQP3, ReliaQuest founder and CEO Brian Murphy and the ReliaQuest leadership team announce new initiatives for the company, celebrate the previous year's wins, recognize annual award winners and offer skills and mindset workshops through breakout sessions. For the first time, at 2019's P3 event ReliaQuest customers and their teams are invited to attend the second day of the conference. P3 is not a vendor conference, but an opportunity to learn and demonstrate new technology and participate in speaking sessions. The knowledge gained by ReliaQuest's employees and customers will help everyone to more effectively tackle any security challenges they face. 
  • RQ Awards program: Each year at RQP3, ReliaQuest recognizes employee accomplishments with an awards program that features three awards: The Excellence Award, The Moyer Award, and The Arena Award. The Excellence Award highlights team members who excel in their roles, are willing to listen, appreciate those they work with and approach difficult situations with great attitudes. The Moyer Award, named for a former RQ adviser, highlights those who lead the way in ensuring their job function is working effectively alongside other functions in the company. The Arena Award is named after a famous speech by Theodore Roosevelt. The award is given to those who are unafraid to do the work and overcome difficult situations, exemplifying what it means to be "in the arena."
  • RQ University: ReliaQuest University (RQU) is a comprehensive development program designed to educate and train the industry’s security professionals. A key component of ReliaQuest University is its first-of-its-kind Cyber Simulator, which offers hands-on experience with the last security technology in real-world scenarios. After seeing the results that this program drove for ReliaQuest employees, the program was opened up to ReliaQuest customers, free of charge in 2017. In 2018, RQU incorporated "The Academy" built on a Sales Academy track to train sales team members how to communicate the company's message, services and solutions. It also includes breakout sessions for other company functions, with specific tracks around communicating with prospective employees or current customers.
  • ReliaQuest Mindset Training: ReliaQuest leverages motivational guest speakers who serve as mindset coaches for the company. Trevor Moawad, a sports psychologist who works with some of the top professional athletes in the world, teaches concepts such as "neutral thinking" and "the illusion of choice". Captain Tom Chaby, a retired Navy SEAL, teaches concepts such as "Challenge or Threat" and uses his background to cite examples of accountability. Moawad and Chaby's concepts are meant to strengthen RQ's culture and help employees deal with high-pressure situations. Each of these mindset coaches speak to ReliaQuest at RQP3, and make appearances throughout the year with the RQ Leadership Academy classes and RQ's Executives at off-site meetings. 
  • RQ Leadership Academy: ReliaQuest's Leadership Academy (RQLA) promotes personal and professional development among a select class of employees who have been identified as emerging leaders. RQLA students go through a comprehensive 4-month program that will elevate them to be considered for future advancement opportunities. Internal promotions typically come from RQLA graduates, as ReliaQuest emphasizes internal growth and promoting from within. 
  • ReliaQuest partnership with Boys and Girls Club of America: "Think Big for Kids": ReliaQuest is a founding sponsor of a new mentorship program with the Boys and Girls Club called "Think Big for Kids." As part of the program, companies provide teenagers with opportunities to learn and experience an inside look into what careers would be like in various professions. ReliaQuest employees offer IT security education and training to kids in the program and promote their professional development through job shadowing. This partnership with Boys and Girls Club also gives ReliaQuest employees a chance to give back to the community and foster the ongoing growth of tomorrow's cybersecurity workforce.
  • ReliaQuest partnership with Junior Achievement: Junior Achievement Biz Town is a simulated "city" where all fifth graders at Hillsborough County's public schools gain real-world career skills and exposure to different local businesses. ReliaQuest has one of the storefronts and students work as RQ employees, responding to cyber threats that cause network issues for the other businesses in Biz Town. ReliaQuest employees volunteer and assist the students, and RQ's technical teams created the security system that is user-friendly for elementary students. RQ is currently exploring a partnership with Junior Achievement in Las Vegas (Clark County) to offer these volunteer opportunities to employees working out of the company's Las Vegas Security Operations Center.
  • RQ HealthQuest: The RQ HealthQuest program promotes health and fitness activities among ReliaQuest employees. Quarterly competitions support fitness goals, including the RQ Run Club, a weekly 3-mile run that ends with a social gathering at a nearby restaurant. Additionally, each Friday, ReliaQuest caters lunch in for all of its employees from a different local restaurant. This program gives new employees (most of which relocate from other states around the country) a taste of healthy food options in town. By the end of 2018, HealthQuest will expand to fitness in the park days with free Zumba and yoga classes. RQ has also provided a wellness doctor to send blog posts in the company's intranet platform, and answer questions from employees on fitness, nutrition and overall wellness.
  • RQTV: RQTV broadcasts a variety of video series' to keep the company informed and connected across office and remote locations. "Make It Possible Moments" highlight extraordinary moments of employee commitment and effort. "The Exponents" feature a specific employee who has internally grown within the company and makes an "exponential impact" on the organization. "The First 300" combines RQ stories from the first 300 employees of the company looking back on how they started at the company and their fondest memories of their time with RQ. RQ News segments inform and educate the company on things like office expansion updates, upcoming events, open enrollment for health benefits, or new training opportunities. RQTV segments air on TVs across all office locations, and are posted on the company's intranet.
  • Cybersecurity Clubs: ReliaQuest supports cybersecurity clubs at many universities, partnering with them and creating a pipeline of future interns and employees. The company provides hardware and software equipment and sponsors these clubs for travel to tournaments they qualify for. ReliaQuest also provides guidance and subject matter expertise to students through an employee volunteer program.

How to Get Hired

We asked ReliaQuest for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

ReliaQuest hires for three characteristics: Attitude, Energy and Effort. We look for individuals who embrace challenges as opportunities, who value the people they work with, who have a drive to learn, who are "all in." We believe that everything else can be taught - especially given our investment in continuous training via ReliaQuest University.   

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Things on a resume we like to see are self-study and extracurriculars relevant to professional goals. This can be groups/associations/ certifications. Anything that shows genuine interest in the subject and initiative to better themselves. On job applications, we like to see candidates that have put thought into why they are interested in joining our company and how their experience relates to what we are looking for. Not a standard one-size-fits-all approach, something personalized.  During interviews we like to see passion. Genuine excitement and enthusiasm is a requirement at ReliaQuest. We also like to see have done their homework on us and are prepared with questions during the interviews. 

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are hiring in every department in the company to support our rapid growth. The highest volume of positions are in our Security Operations Center, including Engineering, Threat Management, and Security Analysts. All position descriptions can be found on our company website. In 2018-2019, ReliaQuest will have increased efforts in building out the recruiting, marketing, and accounting teams, as well as adding employees to its Las Vegas and Dublin security operations centers.
