We asked Relativity to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Our Culture and Values: We strive to be a great software company where team members are excited to come to work—and have the support they need to bring their best. So, we asked our team—the very people whose inherent values, passion, and talent made us successful to begin with—what makes them tick. What makes them want to come to work every day? What drives them? What we came up with are seven core values, co-written by people who work here. These are the characteristics that we live by, hire by, promote by, develop by, and make decisions from. They motivate us to do our best work, and have a little fun while we're at it.
  • Complex Data Challenges: We develop Relativity, software used around the world in litigation and investigations to organize complex data, discover the truth, and act on it. When it comes to e-discovery, companies need the truth to act quickly, whether it’s understanding their organization’s risk around an internal issue, finding and preparing evidence for litigation, or even working through M&A activity. But with the amount of data out there, it’s not always easy to organize data and find the truth. Relativity helps rethink the cumbersome and arduous task of e-discovery, making it more manageable, efficient, and insightful. By joining Relativity, you become a part of a big team who is focused on simplifying and accelerating the way the world conducts e-discovery.
  • Career Ownership: Rather than just focusing on job roles, we encourage a growth mindset and problem-solving mentality. We do performance coaching on an ongoing basis which is meant to provide a more comprehensive and real-time look at performance. Included in the process are regular performance feedback and career development discussions that occur each month throughout the year, in addition to mid-year and end-of-year reviews, that provide performance ratings on goals, results, and core values. We also developed career maps for each department to help guide employees through the next steps in their careers, identify critical skills, team-specific goals, and business strategies. At Relativity, we are always eager to help you identify your next step and find some you never expected.
  • Continuous Learning: We are a community of passionate, life-long learners who recognize that our employees’ professional development is critical to our shared success. Relativity is known for its feedback-driven culture. We thrive on feedback, hold each other accountable and embrace each other’s talents. We seek out feedback proactively and are always open to learn what we can do better next time. We offer personal training budgets for full-time team members, currently set around $3,000 a year. That’s money that can be used for any work-related professional development opportunities and related travel, including conferences, classes, and seminars – and we encourage our team to use it. The only thing we ask in return is that they bring back what they’ve learned to share with their teams, or make an impact in our work.
  • Health and Wellness: We know that when our team feels good we can accomplish so much more. That’s why we’ve done our best to take health and wellness seriously. We’ve got plenty of intramural teams and workout groups, and we also aspire to create multipurpose spaces to give Relativians flexibility in how they work, or if they choose, take a moment to decompress and relax. For better collaboration, Relativians enjoy standing mobile desks, so they can change the working space layout based on their project needs. For relaxation, we have a dedicated Zen room with areas for napping, meditation, or just a quiet space to work or re-energize. Walking meetings encourage team members to stay active. Mothers’ rooms help team members accommodate the needs of their family.
  • Relativity Gives: Giving back isn't a choice. It's a responsibility. We got our start in Chicago and it's an important part of who we are. Our community outreach efforts were born from seeing how we could use our unique skills to help our neighbors in the city, particularly those with little access to technology. Now, our community outreach program works to ensure that youth in all of our communities have access to the technology, equipment, and training they need to be successful in today's work environment. Since the implementation of the Relativity Gives program, Relativity has provided more than $1.5 million dollars through Wired to Learn and other giving initiatives to improve students’ learning experiences and prepare them for college and careers. All of the Wired to Learn recipient schools have seen student academic growth.
  • Geek Grants: We donate $2,500 per month to a technological or educational organization nominated by a Relativity team member. Since 2012, we have given $30,000 in Geek Grants each year to organizations that support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics initiatives. Our team members are passionate about their communities, so they tell us what schools and organizations to support. It’s a great way to build bonds in and outside of our company and we are always interested in learning more about what organizations and schools are doing to ensure that youth in our communities have access to the technology, equipment, and training they need to be successful in today's work environment.
  • Social Networks: We believe in empowering our employees to both enjoy and be great at their jobs, but also enjoy their time with co-workers during or outside of work. There are more than 10 current employee groups, including RelWoW, RelativityTalks, and kNerds among others. The RelWoW (Relativity Women of Workforce) provides an opportunity for professional development and personal connection for the women at Relativity. Relativity Talks presents a product development knowledge share series. The series is held most Fridays and cover a broad range of topics, including best practices, case studies, internal tools application, security, coding and more. The team of kNerds enjoys board gaming, video gaming, card gaming, and more. Every Friday night and often during the lunchtime they get together to play Magic: The Gathering. Today this passionate group of people is one of the biggest and most active leagues among all Magic stores in the Chicago area.

As we continue to grow and evolve our on-prem and SaaS products, we’re actively looking for business and tech professionals who are passionate about solving complex problems. To that end, we’re hiring software engineers and software engineering managers with significant experience in Cloud technology and analytics to join us.
