Perks and Programs

We asked Pluralsight, LLC to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Purpose-Driven People Programs: Pluralsight has seen remarkable growth – through both organic growth and through the eight acquisitions that took place over the last few years – it led us to be very intentional about creating our culture. Last year, to establish a clear and direct path that would lead us in creating the future we envisioned, CEO Aaron Skonnard and Chief People Officer Anita Grantham went on a Cultural Roadshow. They visited each Pluralsight office around the world to discuss company culture and goals with each employee. The information gathered helped us forge a refreshed set of values, a 2020 Vision (4-year strategy), a honed mission, and new people programs to help our team members and the company align and commit to something bigger.
  • Driving Autonomy to our 2020 Vision: We created our 2020 Vision to help our team members see their fingerprints on our company – and ultimately how we’re impacting the world. In day-to-day operations, we believe in giving people the freedom and autonomy to create solutions that fulfil our mission and bring us closer to our vision. We also see value in creating a transparent work environment and do this by hosting a company-wide Town Hall meeting each week. In Town Hall, we celebrate company milestones, dissect company performance and prepare team members for future campaigns. Our 2020 Vision was shaped by our founders in 2008 and has since been refined and enriched to inspire our team members to deliver their best work.
  • Total Rewards: We want to attract and retain the very best talent for our company, and that means we need to create a complete workplace experience, a highly competitive compensation package and benefits for our team members’ well being. Our Total Rewards program was introduced this year, born out of our commitment to having a fair, competitive, and consistent platform for rewards. As part of the rollout, we made a big move by making each team member an owner through RSU grants. For the announcement, each team member received a celebratory box in the mail with their award letter and a gift card to help them celebrate with their loved ones. The Total Rewards announcement celebration was one that will go down in Pluralsight history!
  • Making it Easy to do Great Work: Here at Pluralsight, we have worked very hard to create an environment that is accommodating to a variety of personalities. Our People and Places team designed a top-of-the-line office space that is conducive to a culture of teamwork and open communication. In fact, the open layout of our offices are intentionally designed for collaboration and concentration — whatever you need in the moment. Our offices also boast a snack wall with refreshing, healthy (and some not-so-healthy) snacks, arcade games, board games, pool tables, ping-pong tables, a company Tesla and a golf simulator. We believe that a great office should allow each team member to do their best work, and we see equal importance in our employees’ comfort and happiness.
  • Be Well: As a company, we strive to lift the human condition and that process starts right here, within our own walls. For starters, we cover 100% of insurance premium costs for our team members and their families. We offer unlimited PTO to all our full-time employees so they can take the time they need, when they need it; creating space for them to live a healthy, whole life. When a team member welcomes a new baby into the world, we send the family a Welcome Box with a Pluralsight onesie, teething rings, and an Amazon gift card. Wellness continues at the office with in-house yoga and massages, communal bikes, and a $50 monthly stipend to spend toward a gym membership.
  • A Culture of Coaching: We know that great workplaces stem from great leadership. Knowing this concept, our executive team members dedicate time each week out of their busy schedule to actively work on their leadership skills. As a result, the company participates in creating clear agreements – rather than implicitly having expectations – that allow us to work together with ease. We work hard to create a workplace where team members feel comfortable to ask questions to understand rather than making assumptions that cloud perceptions. Our leaders’ self-awareness creates safety, trust and openness for the team. This environment gives the business effective speed and little ego or drama. It’s less about day-long leadership trainings and more about coaching, in the moment, and leadership through demonstration.
  • MXR: MXR (pronounced “mixer”) is a program developed during our 2016 Hack Day that is run by a Pluralsight team member. The goal is to strengthen friendships, get to know people on different teams – including our executives, or to learn more about what each team is working on. The program has two parts: virtual and office. The virtual aspect utilizes an app created by our own engineer that randomly pairs a team member with another member from any team or office around the world. The effort is continued with the in-office component, which happens during our weekly company lunches. We initiate fun ways to mix up members in the larger offices and provide thought-provoking topics to help everyone get to know their fellow co-workers.
  • Pluralsight Gives: A root of our Mission is that we believe brilliance is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. Pluralsight Gives has a three-tiered approach for corporate social responsibility: global, local and environmental. This program will be led and championed by our Head of Social Impact, and we’re excited to see our efforts serve as a catalyst for positive global change. Pluralsight Gives started when a few employees asked to turn a company paid lunch into an employee-led potluck. They requested that the funds that would have been used on the meal be donated to a non-profit. As a result, we have donated almost $10k, 550 product subscriptions, and time for mentoring to LakeHub, a nonprofit based in Kenya that focuses on empowerment through technology training.

How to Get Hired

We asked Pluralsight, LLC for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Pluralsight is a mission-driven organization, and we hire innovators and disruptors who demonstrate a clear passion for our mission: lifting the human condition through technology. We look for candidates who find purpose and excitement for our mission, recognize alignment with our core values and theirs, and have the required experience for the role to which they have applied.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We love when prospective employees show us how they see themselves contributing to our mission and how they embody our core values. When candidates can demonstrate these two things well, we take notice. We also look for individuals who are committed to their progression, and who are not afraid to be their authentic selves.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Pluralsight is the technology learning platform for enterprises that need to enhance the expertise of their technologists to keep up with the pace of technological change and deliver key innovations on time, on budget and securely. This coming year, we will be focused on hiring mid and senior developers. We will also be focused on hiring sales representatives with enterprise sales experience within the SaaS industry. With nearly every part of the business scaling, we average more than 100 open roles across the organization -- all of which we look to fill with talented individuals who have a learner mindset.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Candidates who are interested in a position at Pluralsight should take a moment to learn more about us: read what our team members have to say on Glassdoors or on social media (#WeArePluralsight), read our latest news coverage and see the awards we've won, check out our culture deck and videos, and of course, visit our careers page (www.pluralsight.com/careers) to see current openings.
