We asked OnPrem Solution Partners to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Annual Meeting with Guests: Every year, the entire firm (with guests) go to a destination such as Cabo, Austin, and San Diego (this year) to spend 3 days with our team, focusing on company presentations and team building activities.
  • OnPrem Outreach: OnPrem Outreach is all about selecting a few non-profit organizations each year to volunteer our time towards, helping them with projects that align with our expertise. We think this is beneficial in so many ways, not just from a pure karma perspective, but it also allows us to network and build skills for team members that their current projects may not provide. To date, we have consulted for charter schools and anti-trafficking organizations. We felt it was best to not just build houses and clean beaches, but to actually do what we do best for those who need our help.
  • YouEarnedIt: We implemented a program where our team members can reward each other through a point system that enables them to redeem for prizes that range from gift cards to experiences (e.g., ski trip with a partner). Each day people post compliments for anything through a mobile app - a job well done, thanks for helping me with my laptop, whatever it is they want to say thank you for. The entire firm sees the posts, and it has been a successful reward program for us.
  • OnPrem Band: Since we have such diverse backgrounds, we have enough musically adept people that we have an OnPrem Band that plays at our holiday party. Our drummer is one of our partners, we have two guitarists, a violinist, a trumpet/keyboard player, and two singers. We now have enough people for two bands, so we may have a battle of the bands soon.
  • Untracked Vacation and Sick Days: We have a trust based system of vacation and sick days. As consultants, we need our breaks, so we don't believe in micromanaging hours off. If you want to take time off, take it. It has to be a reasonable request given project workload, but take time off when you need it.
  • Mentorship Program: Each person is assigned a mentor who is a career sounding board, beyond OnPrem. We believe in catering to each individual and working with them to get the most from their experiences at OnPrem, thereby maximizing individual value. Mentors meet once a month, and participate in six month and annual reviews.
  • OnPrem 49 Party: Before we turned 50 (people - when HR regulations hit), we decided to take a party bus to Vegas with our entire firm. Every person had a football jersey with a number on the back that represented the number employee they were with the company. Our bus broke down in the middle of Barstow, and the entire trip took 7 hours to get there, but no one complained or missed a beat. People just enjoyed being with each other. We stayed one night at a hotel, hit a club, and all flew home the next day.
  • Summer Family Picnic: Every summer, we have a get together with all of our families at a park in Los Angeles/Austin to spend time meeting each other's significant others, children, and family. We play games, have cooking contests, and just have a good time. Last year we did a luau themed picnic and ordered a roasted pig.
  • Happy Hours, Mud Runs - We Love to Get Together: We have a Culture team that plans different team events across each city. We love happy hours, bowling nights, mud runs, and anything else that promotes being together and just having a great time.
  • OnPrem Annual Golf Tournament: We hold an annual golf tournament for our entire team and guests (family members play as well) where we compete against each other for the distinguished OnPrem golf championship trophy.

    What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

    We believe that great consultants at OnPrem take on the following 3 characteristics - intelligent, likable, and humble. When we meet someone, they not only need to have strong analytical skills, but we also have to be able to answer, "would we want to hang out with this person" with a resounding yes. Culture fit is extremely important to us. 

    What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

    We don't need flare guns to get our attention. Just reach out to us, meet with us, and ask any questions. We like people that are approchable and take the initiative, so contact us!

    Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

    Strong project managers and senior consultants, ideally with consulting (big 4 or similar) and/or backgrounds in media and entertainment. Additionally, anyone with digital supply chain and data analytics experience since these are big areas of focus for us as we continue to grow.
