We asked Oden Technologies to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employee Referral Bonus: Oden offers a $5000 referral bonus to any employee who refers a new hire, which is paid out once the new hire has been at the company for 90 days. This program is available to all employees. This program emphasizes our trust in the Oden team and the belief that successful and engaged employees are the best tool for expanding our growth!
  • Lunch and Learns: The Oden Lunch & Learn program is an opportunity for all Oden employees to share with the team on any topic of their choice, work related or not. Almost every Thursday, we have a presenter (or a few!) talk about a project update, a cool event they attended, a special skill or topic they are particularly knowledgable about, or a relevant training. We have also had great external speakers give both technical and non-technical talks related to life at Oden. All employees are welcome to speak on topics of their choice, and lunch is always provided. It's a great way to share information across the organization and engage people in discussion outside of their day to day work.
  • Learning and Development: Oden offers a learning and development policy that encourages employees to grow both personally and professionally. We encourage all employees to seek out learning opportunities to help them to grow, better perform in their job, and contribute to the company. At a minimum, we strongly encourage each employee to attend at least one professional development opportunity per year (this could be a conference, workshop, panel, meetup, etc). Additionally, we offer a personal learning stipend of $1,000 per employee per year, to be used on learning opportunities of the employee's choice. This stipend is not limited to work-related opportunities, and can be used for either personal or professional interests. This program demonstrates our commitment to our company value of People First! It is available to all employees.
  • Team Retreats: Oden hosts two offsite team retreats each year for all employees. Our two most recent retreats were to Upstate NY in October 2017 and Montauk, NY in June 2018. Team retreats are an opportunity for Oden employees of all levels and functions to celebrate accomplishments, plan for the upcoming quarter, discuss the business vision and goals, and get to know each other on a personal level through social and team building activities. This is a time for us to practice our values of transparency (by sharing successes, failures and plans company wide) and to collaborate in a new environment where everyone can be creative.
  • Paid Time Off: Oden knows that employees do their best work when they have a healthy work-life balance, and so all full-time employees qualify for unlimited vacation and sick time each year. Additionally, we want to do everything we can to support employees in their times of need, so we also offer 18 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents, and additional family medical leave of 4 weeks fully paid and 4 weeks at FMLA rate. 
  • Collaborative Company Goals: One of the most important ways that we promote transparency and collaboration at Oden is to involve the entire company in setting the business goals and determining how we will get there. While leadership and our board help to drive the direction the business is going, all employees at all levels participate in outlining exactly how we will execute, and how each team will contribute. This allows everyone the opportunity to be heard and share in the success as well as lessons learned along the way. Everyone's impact matters on our journey!

We asked Oden Technologies for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

A candidate’s attitude and motivation can help us gauge culture fit in the team, organization and the entire company. Candidates that can provide examples of a time they encountered a difficult situation will be able to convey a sense of  transparency and resilience. The candidate should be able to provide specific examples of times they have fostered trust and collaboration in their teams and community. Candidates that are mission driven are more successful here at Oden.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Ensure to submit an updated resume that is clear and to the point. The resume should include highlights of their positions but most importantly be related to the role the candidate is applying to. Also, highlighting key data points can help resonate more to a hiring manager or recruiter. For tech or creative positions, including the links to professional websites or submitting successful projects can help a hiring team determine if the candidate will be a good fit for the role.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are actively focused on building our tech and sales teams currently, but we will be hiring across every department over the coming year. We are looking to double in size by the end of 2019.
