Perks and Programs

We asked O.C. Tanner Company to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Caring for Our People: Evidence of the care we have for our people can be found at every turn at O.C. Tanner. We promote wellness through an onsite fitness facility, free one-on-one personal training sessions, massage therapy, volleyball and basketball courts, a soccer field, wellbeing lunch & learns, a Weight Watchers program, and more. Employees enjoy an on-site subsidized cafeteria that serves healthy, gourmet meals, along with free drinks and snacks daily. Further, we help our people pursue education with up to $5,000 annually in eligible tuition reimbursement.
  • Bonuses and More Bonuses: Our employees enjoy an endless cycle of bonuses. Some are tied to the performance of the company, and others are given just because we love to delight our employees. Examples include: • Profit sharing: $250 in cash plus $25 for each year of service, paid twice per year • Company progress: $250 in cash plus $25 for each year of service, paid once per year • Christmas bonus: $300 in cash • Thanksgiving bonus: $100 in cash • Birthday bonus: $100 in cash on the employee’s birthday • Quality, Efficiency, Delivery (QED) bonus: Variable bonus that is based on the performance of the company, paid twice per year. The most recent QED bonus was $750.
  • Security for the Future: To help our people prosper long after they retire, we developed an award-winning 401(k) plan where O.C. Tanner matches a whopping 6.5% for every 10% an employee puts into the program. On top of that, we put another 4% into every employee’s retirement account each payday to increase the employee’s retirement savings. We automatically enroll our employees into this generous plan so they can start benefiting from it right away. We also offer our employees no-cost one-on-one sessions with financial advisors.
  • Community Giving: Ranked #17 on People Magazine’s “50 Companies That Care”, O.C. Tanner employees are proud to work for a company that contributes in so many ways to improving the community. The list of organizations and charities that we support is extensive, and our employees perpetuate this spirit of giving even further through their individual efforts. We encourage employees to take advantage of our Volunteer Service Policy, wherein employees may use eight hours each year to provide paid volunteer service to the community.
  • Dependent Scholarships: Each year we contribute $130,000 in Dependent Scholarships for the children of our full-time employees. This involves 10 to 13 new scholarships annually. These scholarships make the opportunities for higher education a reality for our applicants, and are consistent with our core areas of giving.
  • Company Celebrations: We celebrate often. This year we hit a major milestone: 90 years in business. We’re celebrating by giving our people gifts they can choose from a special catalog, along with a commemorative Yearbook and insulated water bottle. We will also hold an open house in September so employees can show their families their workplace. Throughout the year we celebrate with company picnics, daily team huddles, and company-wide gatherings for important announcements. Events like dress-up contests and a team of roaming elves during the holidays help O.C. Tanner foster a culture where fun matters and great work is celebrated daily.
  • Tanner Cares Fund: To provide a special financial resource to employees in times of extreme need, we created the Tanner Cares program, funded through our annual Give Campaign. The company doubles every dollar that our employees donate to charity, with one match going to the selected charity and one match going to the Tanner Cares fund. Since its inception in 2011, we have distributed $496,850 to employees in times of personal crisis.
  • Adoption Assistance: We reimburse 90% of all eligible adoption expenses (up to $4,000) per adoption, and there is no limit on the number of adoptions for which an employee may be reimbursed. Several of our employees have already benefitted from this generous assistance, providing them with the resources they needed to grow their families.
  • Family Celebrations: We love to include our employees’ families and significant others in special celebrations. We invite them to join us every June for a free day at our local amusement park. Every December, we invite our employees to bring a guest to our special Christmas party, featuring a gourmet buffet and entertainment. Finally, we invite friends and family to participate in our onsite workshops, such as the CPR training we offer.
  • Beautiful Surroundings: Our founder, Obert Tanner, said, “I think beauty gives more joy to more people, over a longer period of time, than any other human value.” His love of beauty is part of our heritage and is evident on our campus today. In fact, we recently redesigned our entire grounds, which now features numerous waterfalls, meditation gardens, and walking paths. We also completed a beautiful, modern update to the exterior of our building, along with the addition of new auditoriums, meeting spaces, and common areas. To maintain our beautiful surroundings, we have a greenhouse staff and onsite floral designer as part of our full-time staff. The finishing touch, coming soon, will be new workstations for all employees.
