  • Bright Star Program: NuStar's Bright Star Program enables employees to suggest ideas to improve the company's performance and profitability. Those employees whose ideas are implemented receive a certificate of appreciation, a letter from the CEO and a cash award ranging in value from $25 to $1,000 depending on the value of the idea.
  • Free Fitness Center Memberships: Free fitness center memberships help NuStar employees lead the healthiest lifestyle possible. Corporate employees receive memberships to a Life Time Fitness located adjacent to NuStar's headquarters, and field employees receive reimbursement, up to $1,000, for dues to the fitness center of their choice.
  • Health and Wellness Program: NuStar provides a comprehensive wellness assessment to all employees at no cost ($200 value) annually. The company also offers free flu shots, a smoking cessation program, subsidized chair massages, annual health fairs and much more. At the corporate office, there's an in-house Wellness Center where employees can see the doctors and nurses at no cost and without any insurance worries.
  • Family Days: NuStar hosts Family Days for employees and their families across the U.S. These events are held at baseball parks, resorts, zoos, ranches, theme parks and other venues. While they vary from location to location, they are always fun for the entire family as they feature a clever theme, lots of great food and drinks, and family-oriented activities.
  • Service Anniversary Awards: NuStar recognizes employees for their tenure with the company through a generous Service Anniversary Program. Employees receive a silver NuStar photo frame, a certificate of appreciation and a gift catalog that offers a variety of great gifts, ranging from Callaway golf clubs, Apple iPods and Mont Blanc pens, to David Yurman jewelry, Dooney and Bourke purses, and Waterford crystal vases. It’s important to note that CEO Brad Barron personally signs these congratulatory letters and often writes a personal note of thanks to employees for their service. These letters are so meaningful that many employees hang them in their offices.
  • Star Performer Program: The Star Performer Program rewards employees who go above & beyond to contribute to NuStar’s success. Anyone can submit a nomination to recognize an employee through this peer-to-peer recognition program. Honorees receive a certificate of appreciation, a personalized letter from CEO Brad Barron, a Star Performer memento and companywide recognition. All of the honorees are included in a random drawing each month, and the winner receives a $75 gift card.
  • SAFE Fund Grants: Chairman Bill Greehey created the SAFE Fund Program to help employees going through tough times. The grants do not have to be repaid so they truly are a godsend for employees facing a hardship. NuStar has provided over $400,000 in SAFE Fund grants to employees over the past nine years. Grants have been given to employees for a wide range of hardships, such as repairs after a natural disaster, serious health issues, sick parents, legal troubles, and an unexpected death in the family.
