Perks and Programs

We asked Northwoods Consulting Partners, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • "No PTO" Policy/Work-Life Balance: Northwoods recognizes that it’s not always possible to control how much time you might need to take off in a given year. That’s why we do not have a traditional PTO plan. All team members have flexibility to take the time they need to have new experiences, make memories, or recoup from the flu. It’s all about communication and being accountable for your work.
  • Giving back/Community Impact: We offer all employees 20 hours of company time per year to volunteer in efforts together and/or for causes near and dear to their hearts. Our employee-driven Northwoods Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is another important way we give back to people in need in the communities in which our employees work and live. Payroll deducted donations provide the funds to allow the Northwoods Foundation the ability to give financial assistance to people in need.
  • "Non-Corporate" Culture: Our work environment is anything but “corporate.” We dress casually and enjoy each other’s company. We treat one another like family, which means that along with working hard together, we also eat, laugh, and play together. Whether it is hanging out on our patio eating lunch, playing a competitive game of table tennis, or having a drink in our bar (nicknamed the Grizzly), we purposefully invest time in getting to know each other!
  • Wellness Program/Onsite Gym: Northwoods’ Wellness Committee offers a variety of incentives to make feeling healthy fun and affordable! Our monthly wellness initiatives include walking/hiking challenges, water drinking challenges, holiday weight maintenance challenges, self care challenges, among others. Participation in these efforts can lower employee medical premiums. Also, employees can utilize the on-site gym for a quick workout before work, at lunch, or anytime.
  • Automatic 401(k) Enrollment: Saving for the future is top priority at Northwoods. There is no waiting period to start contributing to an employee's    401(k) plan. On day 1 of employment, Northwoods enrolls every employee at 3% with a 2% company match. Employees that defer 6% receive a 3.5% company match.
  • Career Development: We have a purposefully flat organizational structure (as well as low turnover). We still want to provide opportunities for Northwoodians to grow, develop, and be recognized. Through our “Grow Like a Ninja” program, employees can earn rewards such as bonuses and sabbaticals for learning, knowledge sharing, and making other valuable contributions to Northwoods.

How to Get Hired

We asked Northwoods Consulting Partners, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

As mentioned, the foundation of our culture is about trust and accountability. It boils down to our mantra of "behave like an adult, get treated like an adult". While that is vague, the key characteristics we look for are accountability, being a team player, striving for excellence and not being afraid to fail, resilience, and being open-minded. We look for people that appreciate and respect the work-life balance that Northwoods allows for and that enjoy the family atmosphere of Northwoods.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Be unique, but also genuine. It can be a fine line to walk, but don't use the same old resume template (nor get too wild with your resume format). Show your passion for what you do - don't just list all the buzzwords that you think will get attention. Highlight what you do outside of work in terms of volunteering or what you care about. Let your personality shine through.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Currently, we are looking mostly for Sales and Development staff. But in any given year, we also look for people to add to our services, support, and back office teams.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Individuals interested in potential employment at Northwoods can find out more about the culture and open opportunities by visiting our Careers page at www.teamnorthwoods.com/careers.
