Perks and Programs

We asked Nordstrom, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employee Discount: Beginning on their first day working at Nordstrom, all employees (and their eligible dependents) receive a 20 percent discount at Nordstrom stores, Rack stores,, and Managers, and others who have received specific recognition, receive a 33 percent discount in Nordstrom stores and online. Employees also receive a 20 percent discount at Spa Nordstrom, Monday through Wednesday, and discounts are available every day at Nordstrom restaurants, cafés and specialty coffee bars. Three times a year—for one week each in February, May and September—employees enjoy an extra 40 percent discount on all Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) merchandise. Just before the holidays, employees enjoy House Party, a designated week during which they receive an enhanced discount. A 20% discount jumps to 30%, a 33% discount becomes 40%, and everyone gets 30% at the Rack. It's our way of thanking our employees for all they do.

How to Get Hired

We asked Nordstrom, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

For every role across our company, we want to hire candidates who are passionate about our business, have a curiosity to learn, are dedicated to serving customers and are interested in growing a career with Nordstrom. The world of fashion retail is constantly evolving, and we rely on our employees to help us find new, creative and innovative ways to meet the needs of our customers. For more specialized roles, we’re looking for relevant skills and capabilities as well.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We’re always impressed by applicants who can show they’ve done their research and understand our business and who we are. We appreciate candidates who come prepared with ideas about ways we can better connect with, inspire and serve our customers, and can show how they have the experience and skills to help us do that.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

The majority of our employees work on the sales floor—it’s an area that continues to offer tremendous opportunities, particularly as we continue to open new Nordstrom stores in the U.S. and Canada. There is also a tremendous amount of new store growth happening at Nordstrom Rack, which is an important part of the career path for our future Nordstrom leaders.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

If you’re interested in a career with Nordstrom, we encourage you to network with our current employees who are working in the area that’s of interest to you. It’s the best way to learn about the company and the work that team does. Candidates can also visit our LinkedIn page, which has a lot of information about available positions and what’s going on at Nordstrom.
