Perks and Programs

We asked Nicklaus Childrens Health System to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employees share NCHS' success: Through Nicklaus Children's SuccessSharing Program, employees can earn up to $1,200 every year when the organization reaches its budgeted operating margin and achieves its patient satisfaction and clinical index measures. This is a way for employees to share in the successes of the organization and strive to make patients' experiences even better.
  • Spend it how you want: New in 2017, employees are able to cash-out their paid time off (PTO) hours at 100% twice per year (once in May and again in November). They must meet the policy requirements and elect how many hours they would like cashed out during open enrollment then they are free to spend it how they want to!
  • Recognition in your hands: Nicklaus Children's Health System values appreciation and recognition for a job well done which is why last year we developed our own in-house recognition mobile application. Through the iCREATE app, employees can recognize one another from anywhere in the world. They can search the employee directory or scan an employees' badge to recognize on the spot. When you receive a recognition, an email notification is sent to your boss and your boss' boss so that everyone knows how great you are! You also receive 100 points which can be used to shop at our iCREATE rewards store. Happy employees, happily shopping!
  • Your Commitment is Our Success: Every year, Nicklaus Children's Health System recognizes employees for their years of service and loyalty to the organization. Employees with 5, 10, 15, 20, all the way up to sometimes 50 years of service are invited to an annual dinner and celebration and receive a special gift. Members of the senior leadership team host the event and give a special presentation before employees dance the night away. Those employees with 10 years of service or more also receive a special bonus ranging from $500 to $2500 (depending on their years of service). In 2017, we celebrated one employee who has been with us for 50 years and another for 45 years. Amazing!
  • Wellness resources for all: Nicklaus Children's Health System not only provides employees with a way to bi-annually assess their health status but it also offers an array of resources for them to achieve their desired wellness goals. With in-house programs such as Lose to Win, Invoy Weight Loss Program, weekly farmers' market, on-site dietitian, fitness centers at various locations, walking treadmill stations, there are ways for employees to create healthy lifestyles with their desired methods. Through our Wellness Center, we also provide employees with access to personal trainers, Zumba classes, boot camp sessions and much more.
  • Fresh fruit (and food) frenzy: As another way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, NCHS is proud to offer our employees a weekly, onsite farmers' market featuring local vendors that bring an array of healthy choices like organic fruits and vegetables, local honey, soups and lotions, lunch meal options, plants and flowers and much more. Vendors must be healthy product providers in order to join the market. Employees flock every Wednesday to the market where payroll deduction, cash and credit cards are accepted, and all items are available at discounted prices just for the NCHS Family.
  • Education = Money: Education assistance is available to all benefits-eligible employees who have been with Nicklaus Children's Health System for at least twelve months. The Tuition Reimbursement program is designed specifically for healthcare professional degree programs, leadership programs, technical courses and certificate training programs which improve knowledge and skills of employees and promote their professional and career development. Tuition reimbursement amounts vary depending on employment status (full-time vs. part-time) and the type of degree or certificate they are trying to achieve. Minimum is $2,000 and maximum is $5,250 per year.
  • Convenient Care Clinic: Nicklaus Children's Health System values the health of our employees which is why we offer all members of the NCHS Family access to our on-site convenient care clinic. Faster than the doctor's office and other medical facilities, the clinic offers easy access to certified nurse practitioners who can treat minor illnesses, fevers, colds, flus, sinus infections, skin conditions and much more. It's a one stop shop for quick medical questions and even vaccines. By the end of 2017, we will have our second Convenient Care Clinic location in our corporate offices giving all employees a centralized location to visit.
  • Let's Party: At Nicklaus Children's Health System and Nicklaus Children's Hospital, every day is a cause for celebration when the health of children is involved. This is why the organization has a strong belief in celebrating all of our successes whether big or small. Employees can expect celebrations at least three times per year including ice cream socials, holiday celebrations, professional celebrations (like Research Awareness Month and others that are similar) and much more. The passion that caregivers put into their everyday work is always a reason to celebrate. And NCHS believes that happy employees create happy and healthy children in our community and beyond.
  • NCHS Family is home grown: Nicklaus Children's Health System is focused on the growth and development of its internal talent by providing them with career coaching and professional development resources. That is why, in response to employees' comments, the organization developed a Career Paths program that guides employees through their development and eventually into their desired career goals. Proving to be on the leading edge of workplace transformation and empowerment, the program gives employees an insight into their potential areas of opportunities within the organization. Since the program’s inception in 2015, 88 staff level employees have participated, five have been promoted; 235 leaders have been engaged, 48 have been promoted; and 47 emerging leaders have been identified.
