We asked MuleSoft(North America) to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employee Referral Program: Muleys embody exceptional talent, so they are the best at spotting it within their networks. Our referral program includes a $3,000 cash bonus for when a referral who is not already in our system gets hired, monthly hot jobs where the bonus is increased, and internal processes that make referring that much easier. This program is a key part of the onboarding process and continues to evolve to be of more value to employees globally.
  • Interviewer Training Program: Hiring great people is our top priority because MuleSoft values retaining exceptional people. We cannot hire great people without providing an exceptional candidate experience and being clear company-wide on how to spot the best talent. Our Interviewer Training Program is a day-long course to all Muleys who interview candidates and is offered on a rolling basis. The course covers best practices for conducting an interview, backend processes, engaging video content of dos and don'ts, an overview of what is Muley DNA and how to spot it, and prizes. This program is part of professional development for any Muley and is a hallmark of our hiring culture.
  • Annual MeetUp: Face to face collaboration is critical to our culture of getting things done quickly. Since its beginning, MuleSoft has been a truly global company, founded in Europe, to growing an engineering team in Buenos Aires, to building a headquarters in San Francisco, to now having over a dozen offices across five continents. Every year, every Muley from across the globe comes together in San Diego for a week of alignment, learning, working through issues, and building relationships. The week is filled with all hands sessions, cross-functional time, strategy workshops, customer presentations, and offsite activities. It's a highlight of the year and a chance for us to level set so we all are moving in the same direction in service of a common goal.
  • Kickstart: Kickstart is our onboarding program that every member of the Field team globally goes through in their first three months of joining MuleSoft. The week includes a day at headquarters followed by three days offsite. The week challenges people to adopt a new way of thinking and learn the ins and outs of the biggest problem in IT that our platform solves, how we do it, and how to lead a conversation about it. Kickstart provides a chance to meet new people from global offices and learn more about field culture at MuleSoft. It's challenging, inspiring, and critical for our success.
  • Hackathons: The entire company has an inherent culture of innovation, and this is particularly important in our Product and Engineering organization. Multiple times a year, we host an internal hackathon that is cross-functional (meaning it is open to any Engineering team, including QA and DevOps, Product, and technical Field team members) and global (our main Engineering offices are in San Francisco and Buenos Aires, plus technical Field team in other global offices). Muleys work in small teams to build creative projects that will serve customers, internal teams, or leverage MuleSoft technology. Hackathons have multiple categories and prizes, including a People's Choice award.
  • Volunteering Program: Giving back to the community is something we take to heart. Because so many Muleys are involved in a variety of charitable organizations, we support employee-driven initiatives to include Muleys in helping these groups. For instance, we've sponsored a charity soccer tournament by providing MuleSoft soccer jerseys, helping with sign-ups and logistics, and getting the company excited about the event. We do this year-round across our offices, and other programs include blood donations, food drives, team offsites to volunteer at a local nonprofit, our annual 5K benefitting YearUp, and holiday toy drives.
  • MulePack: The MulePack is a self-appointed cross-functional team of Muleys who plan exciting and educational programs and activities for their local office. We have a MulePack in San Francisco, London, and are building more in Sydney, Buenos Aires, and other offices. Some of the activities that have been enjoyed are family BBQs, trivia nights, free Spanish lessons, and a co-ed soccer league.

We hire for four main attributes:    Track record of achievement We hire for trajectory, not altitude. Show us the major professional and personal accomplishments you’ve made in your academic and professional career. Cognitive ability Intellectual curiosity is integral to being a forward-thinking, disruptive company. Be analytical and logical. Find creative ways to solve problems. Square peg, square hole The right fit is a person who not only has the skillset, but also the excitement to work at a company of our size and pace of growth. Is this the job that gets you out of bed every morning, excited to come to work? Good human Everything we do is company first, team second, self last.
