Perks and Programs

We asked Mud Bay to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Employee Ownership: After working 1000 hours and twelve months, Mud Bay staff become eligible to become owners of our company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
  • Health Care: Because even the heartiest of Muddies can get sick, we offer Healthcare insurance options to all Muddies who work an average of 30 hours a week or more. Vision, Dental and Voluntary Life Insurance plans are also offered.
  • Paid Time Off: We all work hard, but we need to recharge. All Mud Bay staff are eligible for Paid Time Off (PTO), which they can use for vacations, sick leave, or just a fun day off. We also provide time off for bereavement and jury duty.
  • Staff Discount: Muddies love animals, and we want Muddies to have firsthand experience with the foods and supplies we sell. So we provide a staff discount of between 25% and 40% off everything we sell in our stores.
  • Mudstock: Once a year, Mud Bay closes all of its stores, its distribution center and its home office so that all of Mud Bay's staff can spend a day together. We renew friendships, meet new Muddies, learn, provide guidance that will shape Mud Bay's future plans, ask our manufacturing partners questions, eat great food and have fun together!
  • Healthy Habits: Mud Bay reimburses staff for the cost of healthy activities (walk-a-thons, basketball tournaments, yoga classes etc.) up to $50 once per year, and if you quit smoking, we'll give you $100 and a heartfelt congratulations.
