  • OKR's: Objectives and Key Results is a formal program designed to provide employees with full visibility to Mohawk's objectives, and how everyone is helping to contribute to them. Participation is voluntary, but all employees have the ability to login to see the progress, as well as contribute ideas and efforts to move Mohawk forward. One very important Key Result is Improving Work/life Balance. All of our branches are committed to this. Our Buffalo branch's own objective states "Keep people from freaking out upon coming back from vacation". This comes from working toward the team backing up the person going out so they come back to a clean desk and no loose ends or pile up!
  • CCS/CES Accreditation: Mohawk offers our employees opportunities to expand their knowledge and hone their professional skills while continuing to stay up on the rapidly changing marketplace within the import and export industries. Courses in Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist and U.S. Licensed Customs Broker are just a few examples of these programs. Employees also receive bonus points from the MohawkOne recognition program upon successful completion, as well as annual renewals. This is a program geared toward career enrichment for our employees. To date we have 58 CCS and 6 CES certified employees!
  • Mentorship Program: MohawkONE CONNECT is our new formalized training program. It is a network of peer-to-peer relationships to introduce a new employee to our culture, his/her new job responsibilities, and begin developing an enriching career path. The mentor (CONNECTOR) is responsible for providing their mentee (CONNECTEE) with day-to-day job training, initiating career development discussions, and being the liaison between new hires and management, providing them with ongoing support and feedback.
  • Bonus Incentive Program: Mohawk Global Logistics Corp has an incentivized bonus program in addition to our end of the year discretionary bonus program. This program allows for a bonus “kicker” for Import, Export and Domestic Departments that meet their annual budgets. In addition, each branch office’s employees are awarded if they as a branch meet budget, and there’s also a department bonus for each department meeting their budget. Another example of Mohawk showing appreciation for hard work!
  • MGL University: MGL U was designed to provide comprehensive and collaborative training for both new and incumbent employees from all locations and job levels, while providing networking opportunities and field trips to industry-specific sites. We have had 3 graduating classes, with a total of more than 40 employees participating. "For a person coming to the company with no experience or background, what a great way to set the foundation!"; "The leadership staff and seasoned presenters are so impressive with all the knowledge they have to impart."; "Team building excercises and the piece on Mohawk's Core Values was very rewarding!"; "Having a field trip to understand more parts of the business was very interesting."; "Having teambuilding and fun time outside of the full day training was a great idea!"; "It was great to learn how international transportation and logistics manages the moving of cargo around the world. Fascinating!"
  • Wholesale Clubs & Holiday Cash: Mohawk offers all employees and their families a company-paid annual membership to their choice of BJ's Wholesale Club, Sam's Club or Costco. Also, at Easter/Passover and Thanksgiving, Mohawk distributes holiday cash envelopes in person to all employees and thanks them for their hard work all year. Employees like to tell us what they'll do with their gift and each person walks away with a hug and a smile!
  • Flu Shot Clinic: Mohawk hosts an annual on-site flu shot clinic free of charge for employees and their families. Mohawk is dedicated to the health and well being of our group. Many people take advantage of this program and we find that overall we have many employees committed to a healthy work environment.
  • Mohawk Employee Exchange Program: Mohawk has developed an Employee Exchange Program with our overseas partners, allowing qualified employees to spend 90 days with them. So far, we have had 2 completed Employee Exchanges in China and Germany. A 3rd employee is a current participant in an exchange program in Italy. We have hosted employees from our overseas agents in Germany and Italy as well.
  • Yammer: In order to improve communication between employees and amongst branch offices, we launched Yammer so that our people can share their experiences, personal interests and passions. Yammer is a Microsoft Office 365 program available to all employees; think of it as a Facebook for Mohawk! Employees are sharing family stories, workplace events, charitable and community involvement, and humorous anecdotes. Recently shared experiences were our Cleveland office taking in a baseball game with our employee exchange visitor from Italy as a guest; congrats to graduating children of many proud parents at Mohawk; sharing photos and the culture of our IT Manager's visit back to her native country in El Salvador; fun pics of employees together at Niagara Falls; our Buffalo office allowed an hour for "Take your dog to work week"; and our Rochester office hosting an ice cream social for senior citizens.
  • Career Explorations: Mohawk offers all employees opportunities to learn about the organization and potential careers via a 3-step program. 1. Resources and Programs: easily accessible print and intranet resources such as the Company newsletter, job postings, HR Career Center and Town Hall Meetings. 2. Exploratory Conversations/Visits: Conversations with other employees to learn about a particular role or department, and on-site visits. 3. Shadowing: Pair with another employee to observe and participate in daily activities to learn more about that role.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Ideal prospective employees must be motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.  They must possess the ability to work within a team.  Candidates must possess qualities that reflect Mohawk's Core Values (Care, Deliver & Enrich).  They need to have a sense of urgency and thoroughness in regard to their work.  They must be accommodating and empathetic not only to work well externally with our clients, but internally with their fellow employees.  They would also possess such skills as the ability to solve problems, multi-task and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. We use a pre-employment assessment known as Caliper to help determine if the candidate is a good fit for Mohawk Global Logistics Corp using the aforementioned characteristics and attributes.
