What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

MediaMath hires visionary people with specialized skills to join teams that are tackling some of the most interesting problems in our industry. Many of our most successful employees come from backgrounds that are incredibly diverse—we have Physics PhD’s who sit across from former music producers and attorneys working alongside fashion designers. What they all share is a passion for building ambitious projects that work. We are eager to learn and try new things and are always thinking about how a new idea can scale into a larger framework. We look for technical and analytical aptitude, a partner-centric approach to collaboration, the ability to share knowledge with audiences with varied levels of understanding of the topic, and a personal philosophy that connects to our Math Values: Scalable Innovation, Performance, Accountability, Collaboration, and Empowerment.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Write a compelling cover letter or video that tells your story as a well-rounded person! We are compelled by a great story of why someone wants to build their career in ad tech, and at MediaMath in specific. Furthermore, support your story with evidence that you’ve investigated the company and have a cogent understanding of our business/product and how we add value to clients. If someone is a career or industry changer, we expect he/she to connect the dots between their experience and our needs.

Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?

Interviews are cross-functional and some members of the interview panel will test technical skills the candidate exhibits on their resume if the panel member has that expertise him or herself. Critical thinking will be evaluated. If the position requires fluency with technology, this will be tested. Even candidates for non-technical positions may be evaluated with a project to test analytical ability and approach to problem solving.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

MediaMath is regularly hiring for upcoming Marketing Engineer cohorts in New York and London. The Marketing Engineer Progam is an immersive 3 to 6 month program in which people from a variety of backgrounds, educational and experience-levels work with teams within and outside of MediaMath to become experts in digital marketing using our TerminalOne platform. Marketing Engineers are full-time employees with full salary and benefits, and are placed in full-time positions at MediaMath or one of our partners or clients at the conclusion of the program.
