What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
When we ask someone why they want to work at Main Street Hub, we’re not looking for “I want to work at a startup”—we want to hear about his or her passion for our mission and our values. The person needs to fit with each of our values, be ready to work hard, welcome feedback, and have "wowed" people he or she has previously worked with.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Prospective employees can separate themselves from the group by specifically addressing their passion for our mission and our values.
Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?
Rather than simply interview candidates, we simulate the culture and demands of the job, for their benefit and for ours. We ask questions that will reveal cultural fit. We’ll also send candidates a project that pertains directly to the type of work he or she would be doing. At the end of the process, we have a much better idea whether candidates can do the work, whether they are results-focused, and whether they are in step with our empathy for local businesses.
