Perks and Programs

We asked Main Street Hub to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • MSH Gives Back: Main Street Hub provides a series of monthly opportunities to give back to the local communities in Austin and New York City. Past opportunities include food banks, children’s shelters, recycling centers, and animal shelters. Team members are encouraged to share causes and organizations they enjoy working with, and Main Street Hub’s People Department coordinates volunteering as a team.
  • Professional Development Series: Main Street Hub hosts a guest speaker focused on professional development 1-2 times per month. Speakers range from business leaders to health and wellness professionals.
  • Catch Someone Doing Something Right: We recognize team members who go  above and beyond to help our customers or fellow Main Street Hub teammates. When someone notices a colleague going above and beyond, they notify the co-founders who call to thank that person for his or her contribution.
  • Daily Wins: Every day, Main Street Hub sends an email to all team members with an example of a “win” it created for one of its customers. These emails serve as a reminder to the team about how their work improves the lives of local business owners.
  • Annual MSH Values Awards: Each December, Main Street Hub gives out company awards. Awards are named after one of its seven values and are presented with a story about how the recipient embodies that value.

How to Get Hired

We asked Main Street Hub for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

When we ask someone why they want to work at Main Street Hub, we’re not looking for “I want to work at a startup”—we want to hear about his or her passion for our mission and our values. The person needs to fit with each of our values, be ready to work hard, welcome feedback, and have "wowed" people he or she has previously worked with.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees can separate themselves from the group by specifically addressing their passion for our mission and our values.

Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?

Rather than simply interview candidates, we simulate the culture and demands of the job, for their benefit and for ours. We ask questions that will reveal cultural fit. We’ll also send candidates a project that pertains directly to the type of work he or she would be doing. At the end of the process, we have a much better idea whether candidates can do the work, whether they are results-focused, and whether they are in step with our empathy for local businesses.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

If you’re hard working, passionate about helping local businesses and inspired by our values, we want you. We’re growing fast!

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
