We asked Luther Manor to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Tuition Assistance: We've offered this program for quite some time and have had quite a few employees who have been able to promote themselves through our organization from dining services to Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or CNA to Licensed Practical Nurse or Medication Technician and CNA's who became Registered Nurses.
  • Luther Manor Foundation: Our foundation provides $5M in donations annually to assist with supporting residents who are unable to support themselves. Where they can no longer, we provide the additional boost to provide the support they need. This provides all employees an opportunity to provide their time or talents to carrying out our mission to provide abundant life to all those who trust us to care.
  • Total Rewards: Luther Manor values their employees and provides three different health plans like an HSA, HMO and a PPO to employees and their families for health coverage. We've invested in a Wellness program to help employees manage their health risk down and have seen success with this program for a variety of reasons.
  • Volunteerism: Luther Manor provides many volunteer opportunities for our employees to be involved such as working directly with residents to help them escort the residents to and from appointments. Or helping with a variety of events like popping popcorn, working at the ice cream parlor, deli or shops. There are also opportunities available for to help with over 70 events that happen on campus annually. We have 460 volunteers who provide assistance to help us run programs for our residents each year.
  • 403B Retirement Plan: Luther Manor provides an opportunity for employees to set aside funds for retirement and provides a matching value of 25% of the first 6% an employee contributes to the plan.
  • Internship and Leadership Development Program: Luther Manor offers opportunities for interns to work in a variety of areas across our organization. We have had several Artist's in Residence who've lived onsite during the duration of their internship. It's a partnership that's given back in spades. We have the first healthcare leadership program in Life Plan Communities and have just offplaced our first graduate of the two year program into a permanent career opportunity at Luther Manor. The participant rotates through 5-6 different actual positions in all functional areas of the organization before graduating/offplacing.
  • Leadership Training: Currently the only Life Plan Community investing in a two year on-site leadership training curriculum to any supervisor or manager/director who supervises staff. We launched this program in April and it is required for all of our 50+ employees who supervise staff to participate. Our goal is to have "great managers" at Luther Manor and see this as a critical need to address the talent wars and healthcare talent shortage and crisis. We have career development and technical training for all of our staff. We provide an opportunity for employees to receive certifications to become an expert in their field as applicable to their role. The training and certifications are fully paid for by the company.
  • Community Involvement: Luther Manor actively participates in raising funds to donate to local charities like the food banks, holding a peanut butter drive, back to school backpack collaboration with United Way, partner with local churches to mentor high school students through their confirmation process, Alzheimer's Walk, and Longest Day Celebration for Caregivers. We also offer free education to community members on topics relating to aging and care-giving. We have educational sessions to expose middle school students to career or volunteer opportunities within our industry. We support employees selected charitable organization to fund raise for and this year it was Souls for Jesus. We donated funds and educated residents and families on the Save the Soldiers Home initiative for homeless veterans. We raise money through our church services for a variety of community events.
