We asked Limeade to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • LimeMates: Our internal employee well-being platform (our own well-being technology) serves as our hub for culture, health, well-being and performance. All employees receive a free FitBit on their first day so they can immediately participate in our steps challenge.
  • Office space: Fun, fresh and inviting, our space promotes ingenuity, collaboration, relaxation and creativity while offering perks like standing desks, yoga balls, bike desks, healthy snacks, drinks, ping pong table, scooters, puzzles and games. Remote employees receive a $250 stipend to take care of their well-being or create a home office space that is comfortable for their work style.
  • Focus on high quality managers: We know that managers are critical to the employee experience. We have high expectations for managers to support our employees, but at the same time we want to make sure managers are fully equipped to be able to do so. We conduct a manager excellence series to aid in their development, have worked with our managers to create manager competencies and soon will be rolling out manager 360s with coaching.
  • Rewards and recognition: Employees are recognized and rewarded for living our Limeade values, fostering our culture of improvement, going above and beyond as a LimeMate, referring awesome new LimeMates and even through daily "Cheers for Peers" that we feature through a live feed on a TV in the office! Additionally, each quarter we offer a “We’re A Team!” award that is given to one member of each team who really demonstrated this value. Every year we give out six value awards - one for each of our values - to outstanding LimeMates voted on by the leadership team.
  • Company meetings: At Limeade, people grow, collaborate, learn and play together in regular company meetings as well as annual events that bring everyone together from across the country. The time is used for fun and recreation but also important for company alignment, employee development, planning and communications.
  • Refresh Yourself Campaign: During our company’s busy season (October - February) we offer meditation, yoga, massage, quiet rooms, fresh fruit infused water, extra healthy snacks, breakfast on Fridays, comedy lunch, puzzles and coloring stations. Remote employees receive a personalized well-being package.
  • Women in the Workplace: We formally launched a women’s resource group in 2017. The mission of the group is to develop well-rounded leaders, advocate for more women in positions of influence, and a culture in which men and women alike can grow their careers and make an impact. The group holds quarterly social events, guides discussion circles, leads book clubs, shares spotlights on diverse employees who live our values and hosts events to gather feedback.
  • Flexible work environment: We actively encourage employees to take their vacations, find days to work from home, have flexible work hours and take well-being breaks during the day.
  • Ongoing Feedback via Tiny Pulse: We believe when we trust employees to use time wisely, they feel supported by the organization. The more they feel supported, the more they trust Limeade and are committed to our success. Although we see the value in great perks and programs, we believe it is more important to focus on what happens in the day-to-day: how employees are treated, whether they feel valued and challenged, and are they excited about Limeade, their work, and their ability to make a difference. We focus much of our efforts on getting feedback (through weekly survey/monthly focus groups) and weaving our values (a.k.a “Culture of Improvement”) into every aspect of the “people system”: hiring, on boarding, performance management, development (including managers and leaders), and even off-boarding.
  • We provide all employees with access to -- an online learning platform with nearly 6,000 courses on a wide variety of Business, Technology and Creative skills. In addition to providing the platform, we encourage managers and leaders to set aside team time for learning and development. We also have a soundproofed room onsite that employees can use for quiet study time if needed.
