Perks and Programs

We asked Activated Insights - Generations Healthcare to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Generations Healthcare Mission Statement: Our company Mission Statement simply and powerfully describes what we believe: "Generations Healthcare was founded upon the belief that caring for the sick, the elderly and the infirm is a special and sacred stewardship.  It is our mission to have this belief reflected in everything we do: in the presentation of our homes, in the professionalism of our staff, and in the daily delivery of care to our residents and their families.  It is our purpose that whoever enters a Generations Home will be met with kindness, competence and compassion."  The Mission Statement is the key underpinning of everything we do.  Employees memorize it, wear it on their names badge, and hold each other accountable to demonstrating it every day.
  • The Presidential "Caring for a Lifetime" Award: Monthly recognition is given to one employee at every location. A personal letter is written to the employee by the Administrator of each location and that letter describes how their actions reflect the company Mission Statement and specific behaviors. At the end of the year, one overall winner is selected at each location and named as the location's "Caring for a Lifetime" Award winner. Their compelling story is captured on film and shown at the award event, and they are honored with other recognition items specifically and personally bestowed by our CEO.
  • Safety Award: We want employees to always work safely both for their well-being and for that of our residents. Facilities throughout the company who demonstrate safe behaviors and avoid injuries are awarded with a facility event and a Money Machine where they can --in a festive and fun carnival atmosphere--get cash in all amounts from a few dollars to a hundred dollars.
  • Support for Crisis: Our company Mission Statement expresses the importance of Caring for a Lifetime of our patients. But when an employee or employee's family member encounters personal crisis, death, serious injury, or other life-changing events, we consider the personal aspect. What has been lost? What is that impact? We've provided temporary housing, meals, financial support, counseling services, clothing, child care and other types of monetary and non-monetary support that is specific to their situation. This is a direct reflection of our caring Mission--for our own Generations Healthcare employee family.
  • Fire Victim Support: California is a state always threatened by wildfires. In 2007 we supported employees who were impacted by fires in San Diego. Then in October of 2017 when Northern California was devastated by wildfires, our facilities took patients from other skilled and acute care facilities who were in the path of the flames, or evacuated due to air quality issues.
  • You Live It: This program is peer to peer "on the spot" recognition for witnessing kindness, compassion, competence, and other moving and inspiring behaviors practiced by staff. Thank you cards are given, announced at All Staff meetings, and posted for all to read and see.
  • American Diabetes Association Support: Many of our residents deal with diabetes which exacerbates their medical conditions.  Generations Healthcare supports, both financially and visibly, the American Diabetes Association,  We donate generously and attend their events including the annual walk for a cure and the Father of the Year Awards.
