  • A Great Place: On average, our employees have made Kimball their employer of choice for over 13 years. We recognize employees on their first anniversary and at every 5-year milestone with a gift of appreciation that increases in value as the years go by. At 35 years employees are honored at a special luncheon with the CEO and other executives.
  • Healthy People are Happy People: At Kimball we recognize that individuals who place a priority on their personal health are an inspiration, and make for happier, more productive employees and community members. We do our part in encouraging employees to live healthy lives with practices such as workday stretching, access to diet and exercise resources and a fitness activity each year at the annual Sales Meeting, We also encourage participation in the 3k walk/run during our city’s annual summer festival by paying the registration fee and buying a t-shirt for any employee who wants to participate.
  • Safety: Our vision in safety is to be injury free. Employee engagement and empowerment are cornerstones of our safety program, and in 2016 our employees participated in thousands of Daily Safety Observations. As an example, our National brand has worked over 1.5 million hours without a lost time injury. Most locations are OSHA Certified and at our manufacturing sites we have a Behavior Based Safety program that includes Certified Site Champions.
  • Rich Employee Benefits Program: Our employees' health and welfare are important to us so we work hard every year to update our benefits program with trending resources. Like most things at Kimball, our healthcare plan is flexible so employees can choose to purchase a plan that fits their lifestyle and life stage. Options include medical, prescriptions, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. Another benefit is our retirement plan. Kimball contributes a minimum of 3% of our profit each year to all eligible employees, regardless of their contributions.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Whether they have a problem or want help managing life balance, employees and household members have 24-hour access to no-cost professional and confidential resources. Our Employee Assistance Program provides financial and legal consultations, mental health services, drug and alcohol abuse counseling and a wide range of concierge services.
  • Scholarships: Kimball has awarded $3.5 million in scholarships to 423 children of full and part time employees since 1963. Awards are based on individual merit, personal character, academic achievements and extracurricular activities. Our employees are proud of their young students and we are happy to contribute to their advanced education. Today’s students are future community leaders and potential Kimball team members.
  • Annual Picnics: Every summer each location has a company picnic for employees, retirees and their families. For southern Indiana locations, we have exclusive access to all the amenities of a local theme park. Other locations arrange similar events that include rides, games, and a picnic feast.
  • Volunteer Time Off: National, one of our furniture brands, has a new company-wide Volunteer Time Off program. National Gives Back, allows employees to use paid time away from work to help positively impact their community. National provides all employees with 8 hours of paid time that they can use through the calendar year. The VTO hours are specifically for “giving back” within their community. National encourages employees to use this time to give back individually, with co-workers, or with family members.
  • Career Advancement Partnership: Kimball partners with Vincennes University to offer students a two-year degree in General Technology that combines hands-on training in VU’s Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing with a mentored, hands-on experience in our manufacturing environment. Participants attend classes 3 days a week and work in our maintenance department 2 days a week. The CAP program allows students to earn wages while working, which helps them cover the cost of tuition and books.
  • Supporting Our Community and Worthy Causes: Kimball is a corporate sponsor of the National Alzheimer's Association's Tri-County Walk to End Alzheimer's that takes place in Jasper each fall. In addition, our team of walkers raised over $10,000 last year to benefit research, education and support groups. Kimball locations also participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life events. These are just two examples of Kimball partnering with employees to help the community in a personal way.
