Perks and Programs

We asked JM Family Enterprises, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Anniversary Celebration Weekend: Every summer, to mark associates’ major milestones with JM Family (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service), the company provides celebrants and their guest with an all-inclusive weekend stay at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in South Florida. Our President and CEO Colin Brown refers to this annual tradition as, “The most important weekend of the year for our company.”
  • Companywide Internal Minimum Wage: In August 2015, JM Family established an internal effective minimum wage of $16 per hour, including base hourly rate and monthly incentives. More than 400 associates received an increase to meet the new minimum wage. Plus, the company raised the salaries of more than 620 additional associates to account for compression; provide equity between jobs; and to recognize tenure, experience and performance.
  • Onsite Health and Wellness Centers: Nine onsite Health and Wellness Centers keep JM Family’s associates and their covered dependents age 16 and older feeling their best. Company doctors can also be reached 24/7 through a dedicated help line. In addition, associates and covered spouses/same-sex domestic partners can each earn up to $500 a year in wellness incentives from JM Family for participating in eligible activities, including: annual physicals, routine exercise, smoking cessation programs, dental and eye exams, diabetes management, wellness education courses, and more.
  • Profit Sharing and 401(k) Plan: JM Family contributes up to 15% of associates’ compensation into retirement savings programs every year, including 3% automatic 401(k) and 12% Profit Sharing contributions. The company also provides a defined pension plan and retiree medical benefits. In addition, associates are enrolled in an automatic increase program that boosts individual 401(k) contributions by 1% annually until the associate reaches 10%.
  • Dollars for Doers & Community Time Off Program: Associates who volunteer at company-sponsored events earn a donation to the nonprofit of their choice as part of our Dollars for Doers program. JM Family’s donation for five volunteer hours is $50 and increases up to $1,000 for volunteers who give 100 hours or more a year. In 2015, JM Family awarded $66,300 to 222 deserving organizations on behalf of our associates through the program. Associates may also take one paid day off every year, or two half days, to volunteer at the nonprofit of their choice.
  • Parental Leave Policy & Adoption Assistance: On July 19, 2016, Colin Brown announced a new Parental Leave Policy and enhancement to the Adoption Assistance Program that were both made retroactive to January 1, 2016. The policy includes 12 weeks fully paid maternity leave, 4 weeks fully paid paternity leave, 12 weeks fully paid leave for primary adoptive caregivers, and 4 weeks fully paid leave for non-primary adoptive caregivers. In addition, the company’s Adoption benefit increased from $2,000 per child to $10,000.
  • Vehicle Purchase Plans: All JM Family associates and their family members may purchase or lease new Toyota or Lexus vehicles at deep discounts. Discounts on parts, tires and warranties are also available.
  • Associates Helping Associates Emergency Fund: Ten years ago, we created AHA in response to associates’ desire to come together in times of greatest need. Funded by the company and associate donors alike, the program provides tax-free financial support, often within 24 hours, when an associate experiences significant hardship like the loss of a home, passing of a family member or unexpected emergency. Since 2006, 287 associates have received $569,500 during their time of hardship.
  • Annual Incentive Bonus: All JM Family associates receive a percentage of the company’s profits through generous bonus incentives handed out by management on the first Friday in December, affectionately known as FFID. Depending on company performance, second and sometimes third bonus checks are distributed.
  • Corporate Planes for Business Travel: JM Family’s fleet of corporate aircraft is available to all associates who need to travel between business locations. Planes can also be reserved for larger groups traveling together. Most trips return to our hangar on the same day so associates can enjoy dinner with their families. In 2015, our planes flew 7,474 passengers for business-related travel.

We asked JM Family Enterprises, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We recruit and interview candidates for cultural fit because understanding and supporting our culture will help grow our company and complement the dedicated team working at JM Family. We keep our culture at the center of the recruiting process. We employ techniques that enable us to evaluate what skills and experience candidates can develop. We also use behavioral interviewing to gain a better understanding of whether individuals have demonstrated similar characteristics to our core values in previous positions. Our goal is to hire and retain associates who can develop not only in their careers, but also contribute to our culture and organization as a whole.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Potential new associates stand out by showing they have a dedicated interest in not just the position, but our company and our culture. Candidates who have completed research on our organization and understand our history, corporate mission, and focus on giving back will put themselves ahead of their competition. Individuals who demonstrate a sincere interest in who we are and what we do will have a head start when seeking opportunities to join the organization.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are always seeking talented candidates with diverse backgrounds. Some of the open positions we anticpate for the upcoming year include roles with automotive experience in Finance, Service and Sales as well as corporate positions in Accounting, IT and Marketing. We are also focusing on recruiting for diversity including bilingual candidates and veterans.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

JM Family is proud of our company history, culture and associates. We make information about our accomplishments and involvement in the community widely available to candidates. Interested candidates can research the company through our website or social media outlets including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
