Perks and Programs

We asked J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Flex Time: At J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc., we have a culture that is rich in family values. Being an associate enables a lifestyle that includes flexibility and work/life balance. Our Flex Time program allows associates to use up to 4 hours each week to flex without needing to use PTO. In addition, new associates are advanced four months of accrued PTO time upon hire, and we provide an additional option to purchase up to one week of PTO to help ensure these new associates have the flexibility they need to manage their life and personal events.
  • LIFE Wellness: J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. demonstrates a commitment to health and wellness through a suite of programs encouraging associates and their families to take an active role in establishing and maintaining good health. J. J. Keller follows the Wellness Council of America’s (WELCOA) benchmarks. Elements of our health and wellness program include free on-site health clinics, free on-site prescriptions, healthy cafeterias, a fitness center, health assessments for associates and spouses, health coaching, an educational series, wellness tools, the K-LIFE incentive program (associates and spouses earn points toward their J. J. Keller health plan), walking trails and company-sponsored walk events, Weight Watchers® at Work®, and Wellness Champion recognition celebrating associates who demonstrate a healthy lifestyle.
  • Active in the Community: At J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. we give back and are an active leader in our community. Through associate support and a partnership with the J. J. Keller Foundation, a separate entity, we're dedicated to making the community a better place. Our associates can engage in community give-back efforts through a Matching Gifts program, which matches an associate's charitable contributions up to $1,000 per year. Corporate give-back efforts include Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, United Way, Catalpa Health, Marketing and Technology Give Camps (where we use our skills to build a business solution for a nonprofit), on-site fundraisers for causes associates choose, and other community work. Recently, the foundation marked a milestone, reaching $50 million in charitable donations since it began.
  • START Program: START (Sales Talent and Retention Team) was created to better train and on-board sales associates and drive retention in our sales force. This program uses an integrated curriculum that blends both classroom and application methods for higher-quality and more effective training. START allows new associates to learn through a consistent and proven training methodology and places them into areas within the organization where they will be most successful. START associates benefit from a longer training process, a better job fit and a built-in networking group. Since 2014, we have had 240 associates go through the program and have seen a 17% increase in our retention of these associates who are so important to our sales success.
  • Gain Sharing & Profit Sharing: Our Associate Principle of Shared Responsibilities and Shared Results is most clearly illustrated by the company’s practice of sharing company profits with our associates. It is the policy of the company to distribute a quarterly gain-sharing award to associates who are not covered under another incentive/bonus program. The company also contributes a portion of its profits to the J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. Profit Sharing Retirement Plan on an annual basis.
  • Education Assistance for Dependent Children: J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. offers financial assistance for associates' dependent children who are pursuing post-secondary education. Eligible costs include tuition and textbooks. For the 2017-18 school year, we gave financial awards to 126 students totaling $61,000. In the last 5 years, the program has given out $311,800 to students continuing their education and dreams.
  • Horizon Club: The Horizon Club is a company-sponsored and funded, associate-run group that organizes recognition for associates who have been with the company for 5 or more years. At an annual banquet and ceremony, J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. recognizes these associates for their service to the company. The Horizon Club also plans and organizes several events that are open to all associates throughout the year to build camaraderie and family fun, including Wisconsin Dells trips, Milwaukee Brewers games, Green Bay Packer games, winery tours, Easter Bunny visits, golf outings, day trips to Chicago, and more. In 2016, the Horizon Club sponsored 14 events with associate participation ranging from about 40 to 500 associates at each event.
  • Technology Day: In 2016, Technology Day provided more than 200 J. J. Keller technology associates and 25 members of the community with the opportunity to experience the latest innovations from J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. and hear more about current technology trends. This event provided insights and fresh thinking to elevate the importance of technology in our business and in our community.
  • Environmental Initiatives: It is our policy to demonstrate leadership and excellence in the areas of safety and environmental initiatives. We have made a commitment to continuous improvement in waste reduction and pollution prevention through a variety of initiatives such as ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Certification, and we are in the process of preparing our safety program to gain ISO 45001 certification (expected in 2017). Wind turbines reduce our carbon footprint, as does our associate carpool program, recycling committee and program, our standing as an EPA SmartWay Partner since 2008, and our Stewardship Committee.
  • Ship It Days: J. J. Keller developers and technology associates take part in "Ship It Days" two times a year. Teams collaborate and brainstorm ideas to develop a new product or solution within 24 hours. Team members have the autonomy to determine what they will develop.
