  • Annual Overnight Retreat: Our annual retreat gives rise to more memories, new friendships, and innovative ideas than any other culture event hosted by Influence & Co. We wrap it up with a talent show and charitable donations on behalf of the winner(s) to the organization of his or her choice.
  • Quarterly Professional Development: Every quarter, we bring the entire team together for a professional development day. The theme changes each time, but the purpose remains the same: provide status updates on company and department-specific goals discussed during our last professional development day, learn from each other and from industry experts, strengthen employee relations across office locations, and have a great time!
  • Employee Referral Program: To show employees how much we appreciate their willingness (and eagerness) to refer friends, relatives, and anyone else they believe would be a great fit for Influence & Co., we implemented our Employee Referral Program. The program outlines our commitment to keeping the referring employee informed on where his or her referral is in the hiring process and paying the referring employee a $400 bonus if his or her referral is hired.
  • Mental Health Policy: Our mental health policy was created to break the silence and offer assistance around mental illnesses in the workplace, our community, and society. The policy extends the definition of a disability in all of our employment policies to include undiagnosed mental health conditions, addiction, and substance abuse. It outlines our commitment to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness in the workplace, providing support and accommodations (including local external resources that have agreed to partner with Influence & Co. to help employees in need) and maintaining the responsibilities and privacy rights for all involved parties.
  • Quarterly Profit Sharing: Every quarter, we pay out profit-sharing bonuses to employees. It’s our way of sharing the wealth with those responsible for our past and future success.
  • Maternity and Paternity Leave: New mothers and fathers receive a total of 12 weeks of leave to bond with their newly born or adopted child. They receive 100 percent of their salary for the first six weeks of leave. For the remaining six weeks, they have the option to return to work part-time and receive 75 percent of their salary or take unpaid leave.
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off: Employees have unlimited paid time off. UPTO was implemented to reinforce the value we place on results over face time and the trust we instill in each employee. Our belief is that if we hire smart, talented individuals who hold themselves accountable, get their jobs done, and thrive in an autonomous environment, their performance and commitment to Influence & Co. will increase when they’re given the freedom to determine when and how much time off from work they need.
  • Open Workflow: Employees are the only ones who truly know how they work best. What good is having everyone in the office at 8 a.m. if 60 percent of them are performing below their capability because they’re not morning people? That’s why we don’t just allow, but encourage, employees to set their own schedules and work when and where they’re most productive.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

An independent, tenacious, and respectful individual who embraces change and makes a cognizant effort to improve is likely a great fit. Our industry changes rapidly, and our clients look to us as the experts in our field, requiring our team members to constantly teach themselves new and better ways of doing things. Those who find change and the unknown exciting and motivating are the individuals we see jumping on new opportunities, taking on greater responsibility, and eventually leading the change necessary to accomplish our goals.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

A prospective employee should learn as much about our organization as possible before submitting an application or hopping on the phone with us. Prospective employees who have taken the initiative to learn about our company, the content marketing industry, our service offerings, and the position they are applying for stand out in the recruitment process. It shows us they’re self-learners, but perhaps more importantly, it shows us we’re not just another company on their list to check off. Instead, we’re a company they have sought out and are interested in becoming a part of. As corny as it sounds, we want to feel special, too!

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We’re focusing on hiring editors in this coming year! While we’ll be hiring for multiple roles, editors will be needed in two departments — client services and public relations — to ensure we’re producing high-quality content for our clients. We’re always focused on hiring candidates who would be a great fit! We don’t just hire employees to fill a position. If we find someone who's an ideal fit for our organization — someone we clearly see providing value to our team in the future but doesn’t fit into an exact role we have open today — there’s a really good chance we’d hire him or her early because we’d hate to pass up on the opportunity to have him or her on our team.
