  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Of our 122 employees (and growing) across North America, only about 30% of them work out of a formal office, day-to-day. More than half of our employees telecommute daily, and the rest telecommute at least part of each week.  Being able to provide our employees with a flexible work environment, which promotes work/life balance, is important to us! We are committed to ensuring that our employees have a good work/life balance.  Having flex work arrangements means that our employees can spend more time with their families. No need to leave early to pick up kids from school or drop them off in the morning. Having the flexibility to work from home ensures a healthy balance.
  • Monthly Allowances: All employees receive monthly allowances for gym memberships ($25) and home internet access ($25). In addition to this, working for a technological company means that our employees have the coolest tech gadgets and most up to date software.
  • Annual Kick-Off: Our 2 day employee kick off this year, was by far the best it has ever been. This event featured customer success stories, our product roadmap, workshops, a formal dinner with music and awards etc.  It is something all employees look forward to, year over year! This year's kick off definitely took things up a notch as for the first time, as we requested that all of our employees stay at the resort for the full 2 day event. Finally, how many companies can say that their VP of Sales came in on a hoverboard? This is just one of the highlights of the event. Day 2 was just as great- as the entire company participated in an "iron chef" team building activity.
  • Strategic Planning Offsite: Once each summer, around 30% of our employees, managers and directors spend a day off-site together, with an external facilitator, where they review results and tackle organizational challenges in a brainstorming exercise, designed to drive innovation and improvement. These are then incorporated in our annual operating plan. This means that 30% of our employees have direct input into our annual operating plans and corporate strategy. It is also a great way to hear about any challenges our employees are going through, so that when we plan for the next year- those challenges can be kept in mind as we work to improve the next year.
  • World Class Onboarding Program: IndustryBuilt has a world class onboarding program, which focuses on orienting our new team members in two areas: corporate orientation and department enablement. This blended program includes a full week at head office for all new hires, focused on extensive training and introductions to our people and business, including; lunch with our CEO. During this introductory lunch, our CEO shares the vision, values and key strategic objectives for the year, with a focus on what is required to achieve our long term goals. Orientation also includes meetings with our ELT (Executive Leadership Team), who spend time with each new hire throughout the organization introducing them to their teams, and walking them through the cascaded vision and values, which they have employed throughout their teams. Over the past 6 months, we have extended our onboarding program to include Professional Development training and also offer employees a 5 week product training program.
  • Personal Development Fund for Employees: We have a dedicated Learning and Development department, with a focus on supporting customer and employee education goals, training and development opportunities, classes, mentors, memberships etc.
  • Social Builder Teams ( Events, Recognition and Responsibility: We have a number of employee lead teams that focus on driving social and philanthropic initiatives for employees. These include teams that develop employee awards and who are BIG on recognition of people, teams that drive social responsibility within the organization (green, health and charitable) and teams that drive the creation of memorable employee events (a minimum of 4 a year). In the past 12 months, we organized a bake sale for "Mo-vember" and also donated funds from the bake sale to support this cause. Our responsibility team  also championed a clothing drive and pet donation drive for those in need during the holidays.
  • Bonuses and Compensation: Bonuses and Compensation: Most IndustryBuilt employees have a portion of their total compensation directly correlated to company success. These are paid out as quarterly bonuses, and recognize company achievement to strategic objectives.
  • Flexible Time Off: IB supports its employees need for flexible time off, to support their educational needs, families etc. This includes allowing employees to work from unconventional locations, or take extended periods of time off, while they pursue their dreams.  IB is dedicated to improving the lives of its employees and understands that (at times) exceptions to their regular work environment, may need to be made.
  • Ask Us Anything: IB is comprised of a very passionate group of people, who have tons of valued opinions. Our team is made up of very smart and innovative people. We value their ideas to the extent that we have created an online where employees are able to "Ask Anything"!. This tool allows employees to confidentially ask any question about the company, at anytime. We share these questions at an all company scrum so that the knowledge is shared. Questions are welcomed and encouraged! We have an open door - open communication policy and as such we highly encourage the use of this tool. It shows our employees how transparent we are.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

The IndustryBuilt hiring process focuses on finding “Exceptional People”, consistent with driving IndustryBuilt’s corporate vision, “Exceptional People. Valued Customers.” These individuals hold similar values to our own, encompassing Passion, Integrity and Respect.  We want people who are passionate about what they do and love helping out. Stories involving the customer (internal or external) and how they value and support them in their current role are a nice to have. In general, we look for people who display a dedication towards their craft and exude passion in their everyday lives.  No one comes fully trained or experienced in every aspect of their jobs. However, the desire to learn and grow and work with like minded people exemplifies who will be a great fit for our company. We look for people who like to work in groups or can also work alone and who ready to roll up their sleeves.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Exceptional people, who value customers are always wanted! Prospective employees can easily stand out, by showcasing their experience, and also have a customer focused and team oriented approach to business. It's very easy- Our approach to sourcing and hiring people is simple- We want people with good ideas and who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves. In our world, there is no such thing as a bad idea. There are many opportunities to brainstorm and showcase your talent. If you are someone with a tenacity to shine- you are already at the top of our list! We also like our people to be a good fit- culture wise. People need to be able to work in an environment where we work hard, but play even harder.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are always interested in getting to know the experienced, ERP developers and implementation consultants who are looking to make a difference at one of North America's Great Places to Work. Ideally, the candidate must possess some sort of ERP experience, NAV preferred and consulting experience as well. ERP consultants and developers will spend a large part of time working with NAV end users, you need to be able to have sound training and delivery skills. Candidates can expect to spend a considerable amount of their time travleling to different client locations, across North America. Candidates must also be good at multi tasking- as you will be balancing multiple projects at a time.Candidates should be well versed and able to offer advice on expertise on how to improve their current business practises and processes, in terms of operations, profitability, management, structure and strategy.
