We asked Horizon Media to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Spring: There are so many challenges for new parents returning back to work after welcoming a new baby. To address this, we launched Spring!, a program that makes the transition back to work as easy as possible. Spring! includes an educational video series across three pivotal points for new parents: before, during, and after their parental leave. New parents will have access to a slew of benefits including but not limited to: a 3 month paid membership at Horizon’s onsite gym; a spa day or “date night” dinner funded by the agency; breast pump accessories; a membership to The La Leche League -- an organization providing support to women who want to breastfeed; and a lactation transport system from Milk Stork for mothers traveling for business.
  • UpstartU: NYU Intrapreneurship Course: Upstart U is a grassroots effort that we brought to life in collaboration with NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS), a global leader in higher education. UpStartU is a class that provides an opportunity for our employees to simply think differently. Through the class, employees attend a customized Invention & Intrapreneurship course through NYU School of Professional Studies once a week, where they learn how to think like a start-up, pitch an idea like a pro, and pivot quickly when things go wrong. Throughout the course, students utilize their intrapreneurial skills by working on a business plan/project to address a need at the agency. The class has been a hit and we are currently enrolling students in the 3rd class.
  • Dunes of Dreams: Horizon is heavily invested in invention and created Dunes of Dreams, an invention development program. The Dunes of Dreams challenge invites employees to submit their best ideas for the opportunity to turn their concepts into a reality. Horizon’s employees are invited to submit their business plans and ideas for the chance to receive start-up funding and development resources. Ideas submitted span mobile apps, internal programs and products and technologies. In addition to start-up assistance, winners are granted dedicated time during the work week to put towards their projects, as well as access to the invention incubator: a Horizon-owned office space designed to facilitate and nurture inventors and their projects. To date, Dunes of Dreams has produced 4 tangible businesses or programs created by our employees.
  • Horizon Media's Ski House: We welcome our employees with inventions and ideas to put them forward at any point. One of these grassroots ideas became a reality when of our brand strategists suggested that we rent a ski house where teams could go to bond, relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature. CEO, President, and Founder Bill Koenigsberg brought this idea to fruition by renting a house for the agency in Stratton, Vermont. For the last four years, Horizon employees have been able to reserve weekends in advance where they can rest and restore with their colleagues and friends in an amazing mountain getaway. It is undoubtedly one of our employees' favorite perks.
  • Project Zen: 76 percent of Millennials report that work is a significant source of stress. With a huge Millennial population, we explored a variety of mind and body strategies focused on minimizing stress. Our wellness facility, Horizen, features state of the art exercise equipment, group classes, acupuncture, cupping treatments, massage and personal training. But we wanted to do more. So we piloted “Project Zen,” a new approach to wellness, aimed to help employees to breathe, move and rejuvenate to reduce stress. Employees can: Participate in “breathe, release and restore” meditation sessions; Attend a private 15 minute “breathe” session Or sign up for a Yoga Nidra class, a guided breathing and relaxation class After rave reviews, we implemented “Project Zen” permanently.
  • Wellness Wednesdays: At horizon media, we placed a huge emphasis on wellness. That’s why we launched Wellness Wednesdays to supplement all of our other wellness offerings. On the first Wednesday of each month, employees are invited to partake in free massages, manicures, acupuncture, muscle relaxation techniques, fitness classes, and more. In addition to wellness Wednesdays, Horizon offers regular health fairs where employees can receive biometric screenings and flu shots.
  • Terrace: Our employees love taking advantage of our incredible space – and one of their favorite spots is our incredible terrace. Overlooking SoHo and Tribeca, the terrace is a go-to spot for company and client happy hours, fundraisers, and parties. Our employees regularly use the terrace to host fundraisers for causes their various personal philanthropic initiatives.
  • Philanthropy: Nowhere is ‘Business is Personal’ more real and vital than in the work we do with our various philanthropic partners such as City Harvest, Free Arts, The Partnership for Drugfree, Wildlife Conservation Society, Cross Cultural Solutions. We've formed a relationship with a local school with underprivileged children, who we invite to trick or treat at our offices every October. We also hold a book drive for them each summer. More recently, we brought adoptable puppies and kittens to our offices in partnership with Bideawee (a local animal shelter) so that our employees could not only decompress and relieve stress - but also so that some furry friends could find their forever homes.
  • Summer and Holiday Parties: Each year, we host a summer party and a holiday party (in both LA and NYC) as a tribute to the incredible work that our employees do day in and day out. At these gatherings, we have a town hall meeting hosted by our CEO, Founder, and President, Bill Koenigsberg, and employees are encouraged to ask Bill questions.
  • WOW and SuperWOW: Our "WOW" program allows employees to recognize the hard work of other employees. When someone goes above and beyond they are given a "WOW" that enters the recipient into a raffle to win big -- $3,000 for a customized experience of their choice.
