Perks and Programs

We asked HARIBO of America, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Medical Plan and HSA funding: HARIBO provides BCBS medical coverage at zero premium payment to associates. In addition, during the 2016 plan year, HARIBO provides annual HSA funding as follows: $2,600 for associates with employee only coverage; $5,200 for associates with employee plus 1 coverage; $6,750 for associates with family coverage (which is the max. governmental limit). There are no copayments, once the plan deductible is met.
  • Cultural events: HARIBO embraces our associates' diverse backgrounds and invites every associate to submit holidays and cultural events that we may celebrate together. We have celebrated and learned about Diwali, Chanukah, Christmas, and Nikolaus; have watched the EURO Cup (soccer); had a potluck lunch at the conclusion of Ramadan and are looking forward to learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year in 2017.
  • Parental leave policy: HARIBO has implemented a parental leave policy to enable associates of the Company, who are new parents, to spend time with their newborn or newly adopted children. HARIBO recognizes the physical, emotional and psychological demands of both childbirth and adoption, and considers that a period of leave is important for the well-being of both the parent and the child. HARIBO’s maternity leave entitlement is 12 weeks. Paternity leave is available to new fathers for a period of up to three days. HARIBO covers 100% of the associates base earnings, given that the associate has been employed by HARIBO for at least 26 consecutive weeks prior to the effective date of the leave.
  • Flexible schedule and Friday hours (all year-round): Associates may start work between 7:00 AM and 9:30 AM and can respectively leave between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM. On Fridays, Associates will be able to leave the office by 3:00 PM as long as their 40-hour work week commitment has been fulfilled.
  • Dental insurance program and life insurance benefit plus generous retirement plan: Annual dental benefit is $3,000 per insured member with a rollover policy and life insurance covers twice the associates' base pay (with a cap of $500,000). HARIBO contributes 5% of associates eligible earnings to associates' 401(k) accounts. No match required.
  • All Associates Day: Twice a year, HARIBO brings all associates together for teambuilding activities. At our previous All Associates Day, we provided every Associate with a Myers Briggs personality type assessment and training, which was well received. We will celebrate the upcoming event at Great America -- so that all associates can see one of our advertisement campaigns live in the park, while competing in a scavenger hunt.
  • Generous FMLA leave policy: HARIBO provides all associates with FMLA coverage, regardless whether we meet the 50 associate in a 75-mile radius requirement -- or not. We reduced the eligibility requirement from 12 months to 6 months. We have made these changes to the policy to support our associates with the flexibility to take time off, when they need it most.
  • Exposure to top Executives: Frequently, associates are invited to have lunch with our leadership team and top Executives. This lunch typically includes 5-10 associates, leadership team members, and top Executives plus a member of the Human Resources team. During these events, associates are welcome to provide feedback or suggestions or simply take the time to get to know one another better. Our associates love this forum for open communication.
  • Celebration of family and other milestones: HARIBO celebrates its associates' family and other milestones. We celebrate every birthday and have organized breakfasts for events, such as our associates' baby shower or wedding celebrations. We offer a match of any monetary gift collected by fellow associates. Other examples include get-well packages to associates who are out ill and doggie-care packages for new puppy parents.
  • Recognitions during town hall meetings: Each month, 8 associates are recognized during each town hall meeting by our management team for a project well done, collaboration or excellent support provided. The feedback is shared with the entire organization during our town hall meetings. HARIBO feels it is important to take a moment and acknowledge and reward efforts that go above and beyond expectations.
