Perks and Programs

We asked Graco Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Dollars For Doers: In an effort to recognize and support these important and worthwhile volunteer hours, the Graco Foundation will donate $1,000 to any eligible nonprofit organization where an eligible employee has volunteered 50 hours or more during one calendar year. Time that a spouse or dependent of a Graco employee volunteers may be counted toward the 50 hours.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan: Graco offers employees the opportunity to become shareholders by purchasing Graco stock through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) at a 15 percent discount.
  • All Employee Stock Grants: Graco employees take ownership in the company and are given a great opportunity to reward themselves for their efforts through all employee stock grants. Graco issues up to 300 shares every three years, depending on employees’ years of service.
  • The Oakes: The Oakes is a Graco-owned resort in northern Minnesota with seven fully furnished all-season cabins. With great fishing, a recreation center with games, children’s playground, community bonfire pit and many other outdoor activities, The Oakes is a great getaway for a weekend or mid-week break. Employees and their families, as well as retirees, have access to these cabins throughout the year.
  • Educational Scholarships: As today’s students enter our workforce, they are facing new challenges and opportunities never before imaginable. The Graco Scholarship Program gives us an opportunity to invest in the education of employees’ children around the world by giving scholarship awards ranging from $1,500 to $7,500. In total, 25 percent of applicants receive scholarships each year.
  • Graco Foundation Community Grants: At Graco, we take benefiting communities seriously, so we established the Graco Foundation to improve the communities we live, work and conduct business in. The Foundation gives targeted grants to educational programs, especially STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs; human service programs that promote workforce development; and youth development.
  • Graco Gives: Through the Graco Gives employee giving program, employees can have their payroll deduction, credit card or offline donations to eligible nonprofit organizations matched dollar for dollar by the Graco Foundation up to $2,500 per year.
  • Wellness Program: Graco’s Wellness program aims to improve the health of employees and their dependents by promoting healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention. Seventy-five percent of eligible employees voluntarily participate to earn points to reduce their medical premiums or receive HSA dollars. The healthier you are, the more you save!
  • Continuous Improvement Program: The Continuous Improvement Program encourages employees to submit ideas for improvement. At the end of each quarter, at least four ideas are selected by Graco President and CEO Pat McHale, and employees are awarded $1,500 each. Additional winners are chosen each quarter to win gift cards, smaller cash prizes and Graco-branded jackets.
  • Tuition Assistance: To assist employees in their pursuit of learning, development and skill enhancement opportunities, Graco’s tuition reimbursement program offers $5,250 per year to full-time employees in the United States to help cover the expense of going back to school, whether it’s for an undergraduate, postgraduate or certificate program.

How to Get Hired

We asked Graco Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We hire highly accomplished, self-disciplined and well-rounded individuals. Our goal is to fill every job with A+ talent. We want winners who win the right way. It is important that our employees work hard, make the right ethical decisions and are capable of thriving in a culture where multitasking is the norm. When our employees say they work at Graco, they say it with pride. We are proud of our people, products and services. We are proud of our growth and success. We expect our employees to work hard – and to play hard, too. Our employees give their all to the Graco mission, and when the day is done, they take time to do the same for themselves, their families and their communities.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We want employees who want to win. We have a robust metric system in place to measure performance, encouraging our employees to be team players but also individually accountable – and individually recognized – for their results. We foster a culture of high standards and expectations, and our employees come to work every day absolutely committed to providing A+ service to every customer, every time. Graco employees take pride in their contributions and share our vision and commitment to delivering the highest quality products and services in the industry. We strive for continuous improvement, creating new and exciting products as efficiently as possible – both for cost improvement and for the environment – and we expect nothing less from our employees. If you want to attract our attention, there is no better place to start than with a track record of success.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are a manufacturing company at our core, so we are always seeking talented machinists to staff the multimillion-dollar investments we make annually in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. We are also dedicated to funding research and development efforts at nearly three times the rate of our peers and consequently seek additional engineering talent. We are also looking for marketing and sales professionals who thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. As an expanding global company, we are also filling positions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South and Central America, and Asia Pacific.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

The Careers page on is designed with the applicant in mind. It is simple to navigate and hosts all of our open positions. The Graco LinkedIn page, the Graco Careers Facebook page and the Graco Jobs Twitter page are other sources of information where candidates can learn about our company and culture. Candidates can also join the Graco Talent Network to receive updates on positions matching their background. We encourage students to explore our internship opportunities as a way to begin their Graco career. Interns enjoy a challenging and real-world work environment, and also get to participate in group outings, networking, monthly lunch-and-learn sessions and more. In the past five years, our internship program has grown substantially, from 12 interns in 2012 to 100 interns in 2017. In 2016, we hired 19 interns as full-time employees.
