We asked Framework LLC to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Working Styles Assessments: We believe that each employee shines when they can tap into preferred thinking styles and core strengths. We take this concept further in sharing each other’s strengths and preferences. We use these insights to create team cohesion and trust while delivering our best work for clients. Just as importantly, we communicate the fact that although a team member may lean on a thinking preference, that does not limit their ability to excel in non-preferred areas. At the beginning of their employment, Framework employees take the Gallup Strengths Finder and Neethling Brain Instruments (NBI) assessments. These assessments provide insights into a person's thinking and working preferences and styles of communication, interaction, and problem solving. Employees can review results with Framework's outsourced certified organizational psychologist to understand how to use this information to increase productivity. The firm's managers also apply it to build effective teams, tailor job responsibilities, and enhance organizational performance.
  • Handcrafted and Socially-Conscious Holiday Gifts: Every year, Framework employees make a unique handmade gift to thank clients and collaborators for their partnership. The process involves the team in brainstorming the gift concept. Then we purchase sustainable ingredients and packaging materials and gather for a day of gift crafting that doubles as an energizing team-building exercise. This past year’s gift-making was a particularly meaningful experience. We teamed up with the New Haven, Connecticut, nonprofit City Seed, whose Sanctuary Kitchen program was formed in 2017 to “promote and celebrate the culinary traditions, cultures, and stories of refugees resettled in Connecticut.” During our day-long mixing, prepping, and packaging frenzy, our team baked more than 1,200 individual cookies under the tutelage of a Syrian cook and refugee using her traditional recipe. Past gifts have included aromatic teas, flavored salts, and spiced hot cocoa. In each case, the gifts reflect our mission to promote sustainability for clients, ourselves, and society.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Framework offers its employees flexible work arrangements and remote work opportunities. We believe every employee should be able to effectively manage their work-life balance and wellness profile, including making time for family, personal, and community obligations. Many employees work from our physical office locations only 2-3 days per week, eliminating the wear and team of commuting—on vehicles, bodies, and minds. This practice allows us to be more environmentally responsible in not emitting greenhouse gas emissions related to commuting. Remote working arrangements help employees manage family obligations, too, especially as related to childcare. Managers at Framework set an example by transparently attending to personal and family obligations. We facilitate remote working and team collaboration by investing in videoconferencing technology to allow employees to seamlessly communicate with each other and with clients. Each employee is also issued a laptop and cellphone to promote connectivity and productivity.
  • NoteWorths: Framework's values are central to who we are individually and collectively and guide us in delivering outstanding service to clients. Any Framework employee can recognize and thank another for exemplifying a company value through a tool we call NoteWorths, a set of cards representing each of the seven Framework values. An employee selects the appropriate card, writes a note explaining how the recipient demonstrated that value, and presents it at one of our all-hands staff meetings on Monday afternoons. The recipient receives not only applause, but also a token good for a free taco at our favorite neighborhood tapas restaurant.   • Social Celebrations: Framework hosts social celebratory events throughout the year to show appreciation for our team, increase employee engagement, and simply have fun! To help our employees feel part of the Framework team, we celebrate employees’ birthdays, weddings, the arrival of a new baby, new hires, and the completion of internships. The firm also hosts an annual holiday party. A time-honored tradition is our White Elephant gift exchange at our holiday celebrations: employees bring a small gift and we steal/barter for the “best” gift. We also gather for a monthly happy hour and bocce game and occasionally go out together for lunches and summer outings such as hikes or kayak excursions. During these experiences, we get to know one another as “whole” people, and discover shared interests, pursuits, and passions. The personal connections and camaraderie translate into a high-trust working environment where we can smoothly navigate sometimes stressful and challenging situations.
  • Office Ergonomics: FFramework believes all employees should work in a safe and comfortable space where they can perform their best. Our office is equipped with multiple ergonomic tools at every workstation: standing desks to break up long periods of sitting, adjustable chair heights for optimal spinal comfort, dual monitor screens to reduce eyestrain, and sound-cancelling headphones to reduce noise in an open work space. (New employees are encouraged to order a Bose headphone set- fully paid for by the firm – to manage their sonic landscape). Yoga balls are available as alternate seating. We even designed a "quiet room" into the office plan where our colleagues can take a private call, meditate, take a re-energizing nap or do a downward dog pose.
  • Employee Growth and Development: Framework encourages employees to reach their full potential and offers growth and development opportunities accordingly. This support includes the ability to participate in industry events and training sessions, as well as access to coaching or specific skills-development. Employees identify areas of desired growth in their annual goal-setting and over the course of the year submit requests to attend webinars, conferences, or training that are relevant to their development and job responsibilities.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Candidates who are driven by Framework's mission to promote sustainability and embody the company's core values make wonderful employees. We especially value candidates who take the time to craft thoughtful responses and demonstrate an authentic interest in working for Framework as compared to those who send in generic submissions. As a company, we aim to align employees' job duties and responsibilities with their talents, passions, and preferences, so we strive to get to know applicants as "whole" people rather than simply their "work persona". 

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees should submit a well-thought-out custom and authentic cover letter that offers insights into how they can specfically contribute to the firm's success. We appreciate candidates who can clearly articulate their personal value proposition within the context of Framework's mission, values, and service offerings. We are less concerned about type of degree than a candidate's ability to adopt an entreprenuerial mindset and collaborate with team members to efficiently deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients.
