Perks and Programs

We asked First American Equipment Finance to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Work Life Balance: Work Life balance is a core company initiative. Every employee has a state-of-the-art laptop for flexibility and mobility. High-quality company-subsidized day care is available nearby. Employees receive free access to an on-site health club. Locally-grown organic vegetables are delivered to the office weekly during the growing season.
  • World Class Rewards: High achieving sales and service professionals can earn the President’s Club all-inclusive trip to an exotic location, such as the Cayman Islands. Employees who receive perfect survey responses from customers receive cash compensation. Innovators and service leaders receive companywide recognition and reward gifts. First American also offers profit sharing and bonuses.
  • Culture + Communications Committee: Employee empowerment and “a seat at the table” is one of the hallmarks of First American’s philosophy. The Culture + Communications Committee was recommended by a newly-hired employee, and has grown to become a key part of our culture. The all-volunteer Culture and Communications Committee is staffed by front-line employees who rigorously work toward making First American the Best Company to Work For. From training and career development, to office space, to work/life balance, this Committee is energized and empowered to make a difference. And they do.
  • FA Scholars Program: The FA Scholars program focuses on developing top potential talent within the organization. Future leaders have the opportunity to develop their skills through the University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business Accelerated Professional MBA program. The Simon School is a top ranked business school by U.S. News and World Report, Financial Times, and Bloomberg Business Week. The scholarship is worth $20,000 annually.
  • FAB - First American in Balance: The FAB Team is an employee-driven initiative with a mission to help colleagues at First American find balance in their lives. This comprehensive and coordinated health promotion program includes standing desks, free on-site health club membership, annual Biggest Winner weight loss challenge, a free on-site Biometric screening clinic, free on-site flu shots for employees and their family members, in-office yoga classes, and a Holiday Stress Recess massage chair event.
  • FA Mentors Program: The FA Mentors Program provides colleagues with the opportunity for peer learning and career development. This program matches experienced and knowledgeable colleagues with colleagues who want to grow their skills and overall business acumen. The FA Mentors program is available to all colleagues and includes parameters, guidelines, and structures to ensure success.
  • Volunteer Time Off (VTO: At First American, our philosophy has long been that being a good neighbor is good business. That is why each employee receives 12 hours of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to use as they see fit each year. Some of the initiatives include board-level participation in worthwhile charities, providing free Financial Literacy programs for low-income students, delivering Thanksgiving meals, Angel Tree holiday gifts for deserving children, volunteering at the Rochester PBS fundraising drive, participating in the Corporate Challenge, building Habitat homes, and volunteering at the American Diabetes Association Tour De Cure. In 2016, 135 colleagues participated, donating 1,223 VTO hours.
  • Chairman's Award: In a culture that is committed to recognition and reward, the Chairman’s Award stands above the rest. It is our company’s highest honor. The Chairman’s Award is presented to a First American colleague who consistently demonstrates the values, character, integrity, and professionalism at the highest level. The recipient of the annual award is nominated by their peers, and the finalists – along with the award winner – are recognized at a formal companywide Chairman’s Award dinner. The annual recipient’s name is added to a crystal plaque, and the winner attends the 5-night, all-inclusive President’s Club awards trip.
  • FAEF + Family: First American is intended to be a place where our colleagues can achieve their full professional and personal potential. That idea goes far beyond perks – and even career opportunity. Achieving your full professional and personal potential involves a holistic approach – which includes employees’ families. For this reason, there are many, many family-friendly programs at First American, irrespective of what kind of family you may have: kids trick-or-treat, Take Your Kids to Work Day, domestic partner coverage, a spouse or partner is invited to the Holiday Party and President’s Club, paid maternity/paternity leave, adoption assistance, work from home flexibility, laptops for mobility, pet-friendly Summer Picnic, and families and friends are welcome to monthly offsite FAEF+FUN events.
  • Perfect Surveys: Sales and Service professionals who receive PERFECT survey responses from customer loyalty surveys receive cash awards, as well as recognition on digital signs and at companywide meetings.
